Looks good but still give a call to turninconcepts and vette the list with them and discuss your goals. They are awesome to work with.

Front bar should come with poly bushings, don't need to buy a set. These with your U/P look good. Don't overlook your brakes. Stainless lines, good fluid (ATE blue), and better pads (just fronts for the street will suffice) will go a long ways.

lol okay im not trying to be a d*** but i dont agree. 1 personally i spent a lot of money on the mods i have (which i dont regret) and love the way my car sounds and performs as of right now. 2 i enjoy upgrading the car i have weather its "11 years old" (even though its only 10, 2012-2002=10), 2 years old or 40. 3 your basically telling me to revert my car back to stock, which i dont understand because i dont want a stock wrx or else i wouldnt have upgraded anything in the first place, which i am sure a lot of bugeye owners will disagree with u on this. and 4 getting ALL the parts i already installed in my car uninstalled, selling them all, buying all the OEM parts, and paying to put them back into my car, will still cost me money just like upgrading will, but with a lot more hassle

First off, I'm not telling you to go back to stock. I said take off and sell all the parts that aren't adding anything at all significant from a performance standpoint, and sell them.

I said reflash your ECU with the cobb map, and sell the AP. Again, no loss in performance, just $$$ in your pocket.

Your 2002 WRX was built in 2001, making it at least 11 years old.

I understand the enjoyment that comes from wrenching on your car. But I see a lot of $$$ wasted in parts that give you next to nothing, while you ignored suspension, brakes, etc. I can tell you're young. From experience, you'll appreciate the $$$ in the bank for your next project.

Sorry, can't recommend spending another $1,000 in mods on a car that's worth $5 or 6k.

But if you were going to, how about some sway bars, an H6 upgrade, and some better tires?

How about a couple track days?

how do i get rid of the ap? if i uninstall it doesnt it undo the reflash? i never really understood how the uninstall process worked. and doesnt some tunes require the ap?...i dont know to much about tuning or the ECU. if it really is unnecessary in every way then yes i would like the $500 but if it does benefit at al, bc i do see a lot of people using them, i would like to keep it

While I'm not advocating the practice, technically, you can use a tactrix cable and ECU flash (open source software, free) to copy the map while it is on your car. Then you can unmarry the AP and remove it. You'll now have the map to re-flash.

Again, not saying that's the right thing to do, butit's an option. As are some of the quaility free, or low-priced open source maps out there now for your car that don't require an AP.

You'd be giving up some of the other features of the AP, of course....but most people simply flash their cars with it, and forget it.

I'm fairly certain that you can't actually do that. The ap locks the ecu while it's married to it. You can log with the tactrix while the ap is married and get a pretty good extrapolation of what most of the tune is, but the format is totally different even if you got a copy of the ap map vs romraider

And I don't see why you would spend 26k on a car if you can buy a bugeye and mod it to easily keep up with the newer models for a third of the cost. I like having things paid off. If I can't pay in cash, I don't need it (house not included). I would rather dump 10k in a 6k bugeye and have 10k left over than have a stock 2011 in the driveway.

on topic, good choice on the mods and let the haters hate. Besides, everyone who sold their bugeye misses it, just ask around.

You'd be incorrect, at least regarding 2002-2007 APs. Maybe something has changed in recent years, I only have experience up to 2007.

Beyond that, I don't undertand your post "format is totally different...ap map vs. romraider"?

Your trying to tell me the AP doesn't write a hex file (or whatever) of the same format as the stock file? I'm damn sure it does. When it's written to the ECU, the format necessarily must be the same.

Edit: v2 APs, lock the ECU, preventing you from reading it.

I'm on my 4th bugeye, none-stock. I understand the fun. Just be smart, there are modifications that will give you real results (and don't even have to cost all that much)....and there are those that will give you really only mental satisfaction, with very little tangible improvement.

I guess I'm saying, being as young as you are, choose wisely. You'll want the money later.

BTW: The "H6" upgrade is basically up-sizing your rear rotors to those of a 2000-2004 Legacy (about an inch bigger). The results are , even in regular street driving. It's cheap, fun to do, and certainly a top 5 on the must-do mod list for these cars.

IMHO, if it's a daily-driven car, a sensible, well-rounded bugeye would have:

1. At least a downpipe (if not a stealthback or full TBE) and a reflash or a good tune (but I vote a safe reflash)

2. An uppipe

3. Front and rear swaybars

4. H6 rears

5. Steering rack bushings

Add a decent set of tires to that and possibly some suspension work depending on the status of the roads in your area...and, well, things aren't going to get drastically better on the stock turbo. Yes, I've done a bigger TMIC, equal-length headers, etc. Pretty modest gains, some added lag. Certainly not drastic bumps in perfomance which justify their costs on a street-driven car.

Most other parts, while fun to throw on, aren't netting a whole lot in the performance/$$$ ratio. Which I think should be a priority, especially when you're young.

Buy used.

You can dig up the swaybars for a couple hundred, and the UP for something like $100 on here.

Neither of those parts wear out (well, maybe if its a flex UP).

That's $400 spent, noticeably better driving car...and $600 in your bank account for hookers and blow when you get older.

And sell that BOV and intake already. Doing nothing but hurting you and your motor!

Bugeye105,
I agree with Rex8 here on the swaybar upgrade and the H6 upgrade. I own an H6, a 2011Legacy 3.6R to be specific and have been trying to upgrade performance since I bought the car a year ago this past September with no luck as there are no performance upgrades available. However all those that I speak to are saying the same thing, upgrade the handling and you will be surprised so I re-iterate, change the swaybars and endlinks and the brakes and you will probably have more fun with your car than with the engine mods.
Rex8,
I am old and I don't do hookers and blow, but it is very funny nonetheless. Not sure if it will translate well to the young lad though!!

Regards,

Outlaw57

I love hookers and blow almost as much as my sways and endlinks.

Anything you can do to make these cars handle better is worth its weight in platinum, or hookers and blow.
