Default performance gains felt with aftermarket exhausts

I have a 2012 WRX Hatch with a Cobb intake box, Cobb downpipe and "open source" tuned. My question after reading hundreds of aftermarket exhaust posts is;
" What are the seat-of-your-pants palpable gain variations in say all 3" diameter catback setups?"
Besides the sound differences would I really feel performance gains?
My last car was a Audi S4 that had many mods, the least felt was the Neuspeed aftermarket exhaust. Apparently, the stock exhaust tubing was so good, the $1500 cost of the aftermarket exhaust was just a better sound.
Is the '12 hatch exhaust system restrictive enough that an aftermarket catback would be "felt", like say going 30mph-60mph, 2nd to 3rd shift.?
Please post your personal favorites..thanks

It is a noisemaker mostly until around 400hp. Then the stock axleback muffler is the restrictive part.

If you've read as much as you say you have, you would have deduced that the CBE is simply a noise maker on our cars, until you hit high HP numbers as mentioned. Don't expect any gain at all from a system.

With the EL headers it is very quiet. Nearly stock from inside the car. Zero drone. A little more noise outside but not a lot. I really like it.

all these companies should make more of the larger looking exhausts like the invidia rather than the stock looking muffler style

Like a fart can? I think there are plenty of N1 style exhausts out there.

Xluben------- very nice piece, I really like the way the tips fill out the spaces better than the spt that I run. I'm sure it sounds great.

Today I took the agency power quad Ti tip cat back off my 2011 wrx hatch and put on a brand new invidia N1 street cat back on and fu$@ it's loud. I really don't know how anyone could even talk in there car with the race n1. I might end up putting the AP back on or getting some sound deadening for the rear end.

Can anyone that's experienced them in person say how much louder the 4" or 5" muffled Nameless for the hatch is compared to SPT?

Hahaha what's this... the 8th exhaust you've tried?

I was thinking about the Greddy. It looks like a beautiful piece and I've been told it sounds great, but I couldn't justify the price.

I'm perfectly happy with my Turbo XS GT... in fact, I'm surprised you haven't tried that one out yet

Yes, I agree! It looks a lot like the SPT (which I really like the look of), but the tips are much bigger!

Either of those options will be much louder than the SPT. The Magnaflow muffler version should be similar.

I think it's the 7th different one so far. The price is steep, but it's a very nice exhaust! I had considered the Turbo XS. Seems pretty good for the price.

Here is a quick "video" of the exhaust:

Unfortunately the video is just audio over still images. It was simply too dark for real video. Even at ISO6400, f/2.8, and 1/30sec shutter speed it was still nearly black. I had to use long exposure photos and the audio from the video clips.

As you can tell, this exhaust has a pretty mild sound signature. Especially paired with the EL headers it is very quiet inside the cab. It has zero drone at all. There is a little more noise outside, but it is not loud. The fit and finish is great, and the tips look amazing!

That's what I have now, catless with stock midpipe and it's too quite. I miss my SPT so damn bad.

How would you say they compare? I have not actually heard the Nameless with Magnaflow muffler. I have heard the 5" mufflers and they're pretty loud. If the Magnaflow version is really that quiet, it sounds very appealing.

Well it's been so long since I had the SPT, and I always took it for granted because I hadn't had stock before it. I was hoping with the downpipe and axleback I'd be able to replicate it, but no dice. It doesn't sound bad, just seems underwhelming. I'm hoping I can afford the 5"muffled version at some point, and that the 3.5"staggered double walls look better in person than they do in pictures. They just look too thin and goofy to me in pictures, I wish someone would make tips as thick as the SPT, they were perfect.

Lets swap! I'll come up with money for the difference.

The tips are one of the main reasons I love the GReddy. They're actually thick like the SPT, but they're way bigger. I agree that the 3.5" double wall tips that Nameless makes do not look very good. Way too thin. They're original 3" tips look pretty nice, but they're quiet small. Sorry, not interested in trading this one away. Why not just go back to the SPT? I'm sure it's not hurting power any.

'Cause I'm broke, if one ever pops up locally I'll try to grab it, but shipping costs too much.
