Ok so I finally decided after 6 years of owning my 2006 wrx tr, I decided to begin modding my car. I put a 3-inch Turbo back on, deleted my TGVs and open source tuned with romraider. My car is running absolutely awesome and extremely powerful compared to before. No knocks, map looks good. But I do have a CEL. It is for the TGV's of course.
So my question is do I just turn off all 8 TGV codes in romaraider to make my light go away right? Second question is, My car does not want to start at first. It was like this before the tune. I was told that I have to enrich the fuel at cranking to compensate for the missing TGV's. Anyone have experience on this? If so can you please help me correct my map?

Just disable all the codes for the TGV's in ROMRaider then flash. The codes should not come back.
If it had a hard time starting before you deleted the TGV's and is still doing it after, I would suspect the TGV's are not at fault. |

Thank you sir. No It ran perfectly fine before I touched the car at all. I deleted the TGVs and then starting became an issue and CEL's showed up. Its definitely the TGV's. I know you have to tune for the deletes. I just need to know what part of the ROM to change. The Map I put on my ECU last night isn't tuned for TGV deletes.

When flashing with RomRaider it is normal for the car to not want to start the first or 2nd time you try starting the engine after the ECU flash. The best way I found to minimize this after flashing the ECU was to just turn the key to off pull it, wait for about 20 seconds. Then try to start the car again. Usually by that time the car starts up without any issues.

Ok, I'll start fresh with a short version.
Day 1 one car is bone stock and running great. Day 2 I deleted TGV's. Starting became an issue, but the car still ran great otherwise. ( I have started the car over 40 times after the delete and still have starting issues) Day 3 My Tactrix cable arrived in the mail and I did a base map tune. Starting still and issue because this map does not tune for the deletes. I was hoping someone knew what table in the ROM to change to adjust for the TGV delete. Thank you and sorry for the confusion. |

I have never had to do anything special to get a car to start right after deleting the TGV's. What exactly is happening when you are starting the car? Did you put everything back together right after you did the TGV delete? Does it have problems starting on every start, hot and cold?

I have checked over and over again and cannot find anything disconnected(hoses or harnesses) I rebuild these motors consistently for people all the time so a TGV delete was easy to me, but maybe I did miss something. Yes hot or cold doesn't make a difference. I just have to crank it for a longer period of time to get it to start. Its going to burn out my starter if I leave it this way.

sounds like maybe a fuel line isn't screwed back together tight from when you did the delete

hmm I did have some trouble with the fuel lines. Can some one post a pic of which fuel line goes to which fuel rail at the green connectors?(where the rubber lines connect to hard lines).

Unless you are running a very large turbo the TGV's aren't really that restrictive. The main reason people started doing deletes was because with a large turbo running a lot of boost it was physically pushing the butterflies closed. On a Stage 2 or close you really shouldn't have to do much if any tuning at all. I would think that once you disable the DTC's it will more than likely resolve your starting issue. If for some reason it doesn't then its probably something mechanical. After you flash a DBW car, there is an actual procedure to start without having to crank and crank it. You are suppose to turn the key off, disconnect the test plug, turn the key on and wait about 10-15 seconds ( if you listen you can here the TB and stuff cycle), after that it will fire right up without cranking forever. Also for the future, I try not to ever disconnect the fuel lines right at the rails. I personally like to take them off up from there a little where the hose clamps are. If you have a hard time keeping track, you can pull one from one side of the back connector and one from the other side. Then loop them so that A) fuel won't leak from the manifold, and it won't continue to leak from the lines coming from the car. B) You there is no question as to which line goes where. There was a code but there were other codes for the TGV's so I over looked it. The car had trouble starting but was basically running purely off the bank one sensor apparently.
