You're right about one thing- I won't have this car after the warranty (what a pitiful joke of one it is) expires.
And go ahead and call me whatever you like, you're the gay little troll.
If you wanna start the E-thuggery, I assure you- Uncle Scotty has you beat. Lemme guess... Next you say something to the effect of " come up here to gayville and I'll kick your ass"...
I knew there was a reason I put you on the ignore list. Troll.
Did ya find that tailpipe yet???

So troll, I'm really curious. Am I supposed to be SCARED that somehow you know where I live etc?
I assure you that it has done nothing more than to show that you are a depraved LOSER who has some weird affinity to argue with folks.
But I'm not hard to find. I'm the only one stupid enough to buy a new Impreza in lake county fl.
From the tone of your posts (gay guy with an attitude) you remind me of Grant from SOA.

I don't know why some of you guys instigate this stuff. The quality of the content in this thread would improve tremendously if you didn't.

I'd unsubscribe from this thread, except that the original topic is interesting and worthy of our discussions and efforts. It's too bad some of you feed the distracting content that dilutes the good stuff.

Explain to me how football isn't the gayest sport in the world? A buncha roided out dudes wearing spandex pants all bending over, taking showers, playin grabass.
But yeah- the official fighting art of Japan... That's just guys spooning... So- you'd probably love it! Lol

You're absolutely right. For my part, I apologize. I should have left him/her on my ignore list. I don't deal well with trolls.
My apologies to the rest of you.
Auskip and myself apparently have too much free time at work today.

Back on topic, due to some advice/common sense, I checked my oil after my car had sat for over 30 minutes and I found the oil level really easy to check. Guess I didn't realize that checking it while warm makes it a lot harder to read the levels.

I'm at 4100 miles and my second oil change (factory + 1 oil change), and haven't noticed any issues with consumption. I babied my car for the first 2000 miles or so as well. I'm sure its possible for the oil consumption to creep up later on, but at least for now my car is all good.

Agreed, it is pretty hard to read when the car is "hot" and just shut down. i think that's because the oil is so thin...if hot, it seems there is a thin slick of oil that rides well up the dipstick...but after about 10 min i find it pretty easy to read. (especially, as the oil gets dirtier; after the change. the oil seems really thin and with it's light color, is more difficult to read)

My level stayed good for about 800-1000 miles. Then I started seeing the level drop steadily.
I've been checking mine cold and hot, and its easier to read cold. But my dipsatick reads the same either way.

Yup- I find that after ten mins is a good time to read the dipstick. Although I was criticized for only waiting "ten mins" in my youtube vid. In reality the ten mins was a really conservative guess-timation. Probably was more like 20.
Point is- whatever way you're reading the dipstick, as long as you check often, then you're "doing your part". So far I've used a quart in around 2200 miles. I really wanted to top it off with the same oil the dealer uses, but all I have available is Castrol, Mobil1, and Amsoil.
I topped mine off with the Castrol, as using Amsoil seems wasteful if I'm just burning it up.

With so many twist and turns on the dipstick, I found it not as easy to see than that of my Hondas...those were basical straight and flat. With the Subie's twist, once you pull it out to read and retry, it seems to always have oil all over the stick, but the level is still visible.
I got a reply from SoA, they said they will call the service dept about my situation. I also asked if I can go to other service depts since I bought the maintenance plan, they said yes.
Can anybody in the bay area recommend a good service dept? Some said Livermore and Redwood City so far.

Just to be clear, your purchasing a maintenance plan should have nothing to do with your ability to get your car warranty serviced at any Subaru dealership in the country. We are all entitled to that.

Steve, while that is true, I believe he was referring to the maintenance plan (oil changes etc.) he purchased from that dealer.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I thought he was referring to an extended warranty.

Did you check your oil when you had it changed? If so, what was the level? What is the level now?

This would be a good time to do the first oil change. IMHO.

Hey 79letour,
I thought I would give you an update on my oil consumption situation. So from the start of getting my brand new 2012 impreza it has been burning oil. It started at 3500km of driving ad the intervals have been ever decreasing. So at 27000 km on the odometer the interval of oil light coming on has decreased to just 1100km since the last oil light.
I guess Subaru had noticed there was a slight problem...and by slight I mean major, and they have decided to do something. It's not much, but it's a start. They have replaced my PCV valve and are continuing to monitor the situation. They said if it comes on again to come back and they will go from there. Maybe there is hope? Not too sure. As of now, they have tried the cheapest possible fix, and if it doesn't correct the problem, then I hope they will progress to the next possible solution.
How is your situation looking right now?

**I have driven 1620km now and the oil light hasn't turned on yet, maybe there is hope in this minor fix?
