Default Differential question WRX MT

I'm currently running 215/50/17's all around with same brand/model tires, my front tires needs to be replaced. I'm thinking about replacing them with 225/45/17, I will eventually replace the rears with the same size soon but since I'm a bit low on money since I've already dropped a lot of money on the car this month I can only get the other 2 in about 2 weeks. do you guys think it might create a conflict with the differential running different size tires like I mentioned above.

Thanks

Read you owners manual, there is a maximum tire size difference you need to obey. If you tires are very worn I'd bet you are beyond the limit. Just wait the two weeks if you can and put all four tires on at the same time.

Just wait the 2weeks and get all 4. Or wait and install all 4 at once. Don't forget to rotate new ones at specified intervals.

I wasn't talking about what size tire would fit on what size rim. There is a max tire circumference difference that must be observed if your not changing all 4 tires at the same time. If you don't your diffs will hate you and possibly go on strike.

As these guys have said, don't risk it. The tread wear tolerance for replacement is 2/32" (IIRC). Wait until you have the money for all 4.

kellygnsd was making reference to the wear tolerance, not the fitment of the tires. That said though, I'd recommend not using 245's on an 8" rim.

Not a good idea to mix and match different tire sizes. Just wait 2 weeks and get all 4x.
