i took my wrx into the shop 2 days ago because of a coolant leak, and they first replaced a leaking reservoir, then when they went to pressure test the system, they said that it was a coolant line from the turbo. they want 650 to replace it, they said 4 hours labor and 200 in cost for the lines.
im going to try to do it myself, because there is no way i can afford to spend that right now. i searched it on here and couldn't find much, but im guessing its pretty standard, but if anyone has any experience or tips that would be great. im also having a hard time finding the lines, if someone can point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. thanks

It's pretty self explanatory. I doubt the lines are the issue. They probably just need a little tightning at the banjo bolts or new clamps. Sounds like the shop you were at were trying to take you for alittle bit of a ride. You can find new lines all over Ebay that will work just fine. Mostly the Kamak ones.

Just get heater hose and new worm clamps for the coolant lines at any part store. Its all low pressure.

Are you smelling any coolant burning, seeing any steam hearing any dripping, or hissing when you stop the car after its warm?

when i brought it back from the shop, it was steaming from out of the hood scoop and hood, and there was a slow but steady drip from under the car when it was parked and i let it run. the car has only been up at this altitude for 2 months, and im guessing that being in somewhere this dry has caused the line to crack. im going to have a closer look tomorrow.

Thermotech and DEI both make a heat shielding product that is basically a foil tape.
