Of all the mods I have performed over the years, I can easily say this is one of my favorites. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but it is incredibly performance enhancing.

I remember driving down to Homer with the stock WRX headlights over a decade ago, in a grimy, poorly lit night. No snow, but no visible painted lines either on the sides of the road. They were obscured by the dirt and gravel of the DOT trucks. No reflectors visible either. Grime spraying up on your already poorly lit headlamp covers too. Come around a corner in the middle of night at 70MPH to find a mother moose and a baby taking up both lanes. Talk about pucker.

Many times our modifications to these vehicles are either strictly for show (cosmetic) or strictly go (speed).

This mod enhances both.

Call Sonny today to build a custom set of HID's. It makes your generic, run of the mill ride unique, your own and totally custom.

No better light package builder in AK, and possibly beyond these borders.

He is our resident mad genius !

Thank you, sir! I'm glad you enjoy your lights. I do get a kick out of people's first reaction going from halogen to retrofits-the look on your face was priceless when you took yours out the first time. I also enjoy the fact that I get to actually make people's driving experience safer. I'll be out of state next month and probably taking a short hiatus from light builds til after the holidays but I'm always happy to answer lighting questions or just lend a hand with any project.

Thinking about getting some hella 500ff and was wondering if there are any special brackets or adapters I will need to make them fit in stock location. Also I'm really interested in getting a rallybar a well. Any suggestions?

Rally Innovations makes a nice bar but if your looking for light and durability then I'd have to say look at the rigid industries lighting solutions whether in the dually or sr series, well worth the money in my opinion

I went with VisionX for my light bar. They're more spendy but I've compared side by side with a rigid and it blows them outa the water.

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot and those visionx are a pretty penny. Plus I want the rally light bar look as well.

From what I've read though those 500FF Hellas are a perfect fit though correct?

Sonny,
Im having trouble locating a good build thread on DIY bugeye headlights..
Is there one thats better to follow than others? Would you possibly have one that I overlooked? I know i've seen one around somewhere...
Also, would you suggest the morimoto minis or shall i upgrade projectors while i'm in there? thanks - justin

My Bugeye retro starts here. It's not exactly a step by step but it covers the main points. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. The morimoto H1 or D2S projectors would be the easiest to fit. A step up would be the EVOx Rs, but these are much more difficult to fit.

I posted this from my phone so I'm sorry if it doesn't take you to the start of the build. I have a practice Bugeye headlight and, if you like I can walk you through the steps sometime. Just let me know.

soo legit thanks dude I was mulling through the pages.. just wasn't sure if i was in the wrong place or not. I may want to take you up on training with the bugeye headlight, although so far this gives me the confidence to pull the trigger on this project.
I'm thinking morimoto minis since they're small and with painted shrouds/housings its gotta look pretty effing clean. Good to know that they're solid and functional.

That's what this thread is for. I don't remember if I mention it in that DIY thread, but once you remove the headlight bucket-tape the horizontal and vertical adjustment nuts to the bucket or they will drop out and get lost. I mention this because if you lose them, you'll need to buy a new headlight to replace them!

Um, the way I've always retro'd lights retained the use of the stock adjustment functions. Mounting the projectors to the headlight reflector buckets makes this possible. The tricky bit is getting the rotational adjustment right so both patterns are flat.

Ok I'm new here, got my 2012 WRX back in may and I'm adding a RI light bar and two 140 lance light forces. Bar is installed and I love it but can I please get some advice on how to wire this? I'd really like to wire it where they turn on with my high beams but I have a switch as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you mean you want to be able to turn the lightbar on independent of the highbeam switch?

I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully it's not too tricky, That is definitely needed to make the correct (and adjustable) beam pattern. sweet

My thought on this, as I have been contemplating a light bar for my runs up to the glacier, is to have it wired to come on automatically with the high beams, yet have an "over-ride" switch. For either turning the bar off when highs are on, or turn the bar on when the lights are off. I personally would prefer the former, but...
