id suggest throwing a throttle body on the intake manifold, from what it looks like, the engine is too far forward, your gonna have hood clearance issues/ and no where to run a cold air intake without interfering with the radiator.

I will have to check that out. Still waiting on my LS2 TB but the engine is sitting as far back as it can, the only modification I could do would be to drop it down. My plan is to run a right angle silicone couple out of the TB and then run a pipe toward the drivers side fender

Also I am going to cut the hood and weld on a bump similar to 07-08 350z so that I have clearance

ahh dont cut the hood... Just from the first pics, looks like it can go back 3 inches easily. But its a chore putting a v8 in any Subaru . I know i moved mine as far back as possible, even my gear shifter lines up ( t56 out of a camaro) doesn't have the adapter to move the shifter to the rear. Even with mine as close to the firewall as possible, its still tight on my radiator, just have a 1/4 of clearance from the crank pulley to the radiator fan shrouds.

I see what you are saying and will have to snap some pics for you so you can check it out and make some recommendations.
Right now the drivers side head is about 3/8" from the clutch master so that would have to be relocated and once you get that close there could be brake booster interference as well. I am also running cts-v accessories which if I remember correctly are about 3/4" closer to the block than f-body accessories |

Did some more work on the subframe today. Will probably pull it out after thanksgiving to finish reinforcing it and paint it. We also threw in the stock radiator and fans and mocked up the water pump and the pictures below show that there is plenty of space in front of the motor

I have not decided on a clutch master just yet but am measuring by the stock one and the corner of the cylinder head sits about 3/8" away from it now.

Its from an ls3 crate engine. There is a seller on ebay that has them all the time for around $100. It lines upvwith ls3 corvette or cts-v acessories. It sits alot closer to the block than the f-body acessories

yea i realized after i asked you, may have to round me one up... but realized my front drive setup (corvette) isn't going to work with the harmonic balancer (ls1), spacing is different... Just love finding out I have to spend more money.

I was gonna run the corvette front drive kit, but the alternator hits my coil pack since im using holly valve covers, and also my harmonic balancer doesn't align with that drive system as well. gonna go with ls1 front drive setup now.

Yeah, I can understand where you are coming from. We have spare brackets and pulleys just for that reason because we tested a few different combos

You need a stand alone harness... got a guy local to me that builds them. All new wire and connectors... can't beat the price and we use them at the restoration shop that we help out when doing lsx swaps in old cars. I'll pm you.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. I have been moving into a new shop so a lot of tools and parts have been packaged up.
We did manage to make a lot of progress on the subframe and steering rack mounts. Below you will see a picture of the rack mounted in the subframe with the steering rack moutn and brace seeting upside down on the mockup motor. You will also see the steering rack mount complete and painted and the subframe about 90% complete. We still have to add a few reinforcement pieces to the subframe this week and then it will be painted and in the car. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
