Default Front bumper license plate holes

Hello all,

I just preorder my first STI from the factory and bought a grimmspeed license plate relocation kit. I told my sales man that I do not want them to install the front license plate cause of the relocation kit. But I have been looking online at dealers current stock of sti's and it appears that they all have the holes drilled into the front bumper. Does anyone know if they drill the holes at the factory or does the dealer do this.

Thanks

Dealer does it. Catch them in time and they won't drill holes in the bumper.

The dealer drills for the LP but if i remember correctly there may be "square" holes pre drilled from the factory, maybe for overseas LP's? Either way they don't look too bad and if you want, there are LP delete plates available.

Here's a front shot of the pre drilled bumper

It also depends on the state you live in. Here in ND when we pdi (pre delivery inspection. Pretty much fresh off the truck) a new car we have to put front plates on because ND law requires front plates. The only time we don't for some strange reason is on new challengers. You can probably see if the dealer can get to it before hand. Some may be more willing than others.

Mine wasn't pre-drilled and came with the square holes. Some dealers take it upon themselves to drill holes for the license plate. Luckily mine doesn't unless asked to do so.

I believe the square holes are from the factory. Don't think you can't get a bumper without the square one. I'm not really sure tho.

The front bumper has pre-formed plastick mounting block for the plate, I was going to do the same but after I saw it without the holes, it looked silly to not put a plate there.

Alright, this horse may still be alive so i'll kick it couple more times...anyway...year later...

So i picked up a Genuine Front plate bracket for the STi.......and it does NOT utilize the square holes, you still have to drill the bumper. Logic? WTF?!~. Anyone come up with any new info?

yes license plate delete's awesome

thing is the relocater i dont think works on our bumpers. why because we dont have that slot where the locater holds the plate goes in (the tow hook) so how do we figure this out.
