Hey everyone! So I wasn't sure whether or not to post this in the 2.5l section or not but ended up going with this section so I apologize if i'm in the wrong section. So today I went to my Dad's house and I was going to pull his car out of the garage (he doesn't drive it) and move mine in and he asked if he could move my car since it is easier for him to get in and out of it rather than his corvette and the face that he wanted to drive my car a little since it is still new. So I agreed and told him to let my engine warm up for a minute or so and he said ok but the second I got in his car, he started moving mine and I could already tell he was over revving it just to get it out of the dip in his steep driveway but didn't mind much. I then open the door to listen and hear him go WOT down the street in 1st and 2nd.... I know that this isn't good for an engine, especially a new one not the mention the clutch burning when he brought it up the driveway. I don't think there will be any issues but should I watch for anything? I mean the engine was pretty cold and I want to get opinions to see if people have had any experience with driving a car hard when it's cold. A dumb question but it's a new car and i'm still super anal

You're probably fine, but in the unlikely event there is damage, think of it this way: he's your old man, so he had to make sacrifices to put up with you however many years you've been alive. Pucker up and deal with it. If it weren't for you I'm sure he'd be driving a ZR1 instead.
Most boost I've ever seen in 2nd was 7 PSI, I wouldn't worry about it. |

My dad always did the same **** to me when I was younger and would go visit him. He thought it was hilarious to put his foot in my Blitz Nur Spec when the car was running... And purposely mess with it since I was so worried all the time.
Anyways, your car is fine. You might have issues if he did that to it everyday for a long time. That's what dads are for. |

My dad did the same thing to mine when he moved my car, too!

My older brother and my biological father have the same relationship. Me and my biological mother laugh all the time when they have moments like that. It's so funny to see honestly.

Damn, I set my rev limiter to 4000 RPM on my STi. It didn't help. I've been getting her into boost quite a lot. My gas mileage has been down the drain because I have to wait 5-15 minutes for her to warm up due to the inclimate weather.
That is one of the most important things I think regardless of break-in opinions is to make sure the car is warmed up. The only time I moved my car when it was just started was reverse out of driveway then first back in to move the cars. The manual specifically says do not drive the car if it's not warmed up. I'm not a mechanic but there has to be some negative repercussions to doing that to the poor car. Also, I lol'd Quote:

It's not good for it, but once isn't going to hurt it.

Sorry for all of the posts I'm on the app and haven't figured out the multi quote feature on the iPhone app. It's funny to hear other stories too
the one thing that kinda disappointed me was when the car was just bought and it was in break in and my dad insisted on driving and told me he would go easy and ended up going WOT all the way up to 5th lol but yeah his corvette has really balled tires and it got squirrly and I ended up power sliding out of our car wash but luckily no one was around I know subarus are meant to last a long time but I get concerned sometimes cause its so new and my first one! |

I often consider myself a RPM expert. I can tell what rpm an engine is traveling at because i have so much experience listening to my own vehicle driving off with out me.

I have yet to take in on a long straight highway run. Maybe I should do that today?!? I'm at about 600 miles, but I will let the car warm up to in between a quarter and half the oil temp before I start driving to work. Probably once it surpasses 1000 miles is when I won't baby the warm up process. |
