The only difference for me would be that there's a station in Kerrville that sells e85. And my wife and I are going to camp in Lost Maples State Park. It's supposed to be beautiful that time of year.

That's F1 race weekend so I'm out. BUT, this can easily be done in a day coming out of Austin. From West Austin, I've personally made it out and back in 9 hours and I think it can be done in 8. Anyway, it depends on how often you want to stop, me, I just want to keep driving.

About the camping, EVERYBODY camps in Lost Maples in the Fall so it's crazy busy, that goes for the roads too. And of course, traffic brings the police out too.

I've done the drive many times when I had my 08 WRX, now I have a 99 RS it will be quite different without the turbo...

Thanks for the info, good things to consider. The timing is bad when it comes to people being out, but the timing's good for scenery. I'm definitely going to need to book a campsite way in advance. Would driving the 3 Sisters with a pop-up camper be as fun?

Okay, so Lost Maples is out for Saturday, November 17th. It's crazy that park is booked so far in advance, but it is supposed to be beautiful. So, that means my small group (4 adults/1 child) will probably be camping at South Llano River State Park, which looks like it might have some tubing... That could be fun!

Yeah, the camping is a huge part in order to get my wife to come along. We'll be bringing a little one with us, if that helps!

Hey Byron, good seeing you this morning. So, we're still going down there, no doubt. I'm glad to hear you'll be e85 with me when we head down there! I've got a couple of 5 gallon tanks, so we'll be good.

Here's what my wife and I are going to do: I'll be working on Friday, so we'll be leaving Dallas in the early evening (bad traffic, oh well), and stay the night in Austin where we'll meet up with my GTi driving friend. Then we'll head out early for the campsite, set up some stuff, and then head to the Three Sisters! Then a night of great camping. Maybe another run through the sisters Sunday morning before heading back to Dallas.

I hope we can meet up with some local Soob drivers, maybe even some DFW, Austin or anywhere else drivers will be able to make the cruise? Now matter how far you drive, it will be totally worth it, no question!

Highway 55 is not on this route. Am I mistaken or is that one of the 3 sisters? Do you know if it's any good. Highway 16 looks kick ass.

Hey man, sorry for the delayed response. Work got intense. We are driving to Austin on Friday night, then to the campsite (south LLano S.P.) on Saturday morning, then hitting the Sisters that afternoon. I hope you can make it out!

Does anyone know how far of a drive this would be from New Braunfels? I'm from TN, so I was upset that I'm not close to the Dragon (Deals Gap) anymore and just saw this thread and it peaked my interest. Any help on location would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, there is a loose plan in place. So, we're staying in Austin on Friday night, and then driving to South Llano River State Park earlyish Saturday morning. There is an e85 station in Kerrville that I need to hit up before driving the sisters, so that could be a good meeting place, probably around 2. Then drive the sisters, taking SH 16 south out of Kerrville. Does that make sense?

It's not too far from you, totally worth the drive. It's just southwest off Kerrville. The tiny town of Medina is commonly considered the starting point. We'll be there next saturday (Nov 17th), come on out!

I can't believe I drove all the way down there from Dallas, only to not be able to drive the sisters. That was such a huge disappointment. But I did get a good beer in Fredericksburg, so I guess the weekend wasn't a total loss. I will definitely be back on Wednesday, Feb 13th and Saturday, Feb 16th. Nice car, by the way!
