I have two pairs, low beams and fogs. Got them in March 2010. One of the ballasts for the fogs failed pretty early on. Got it replaced under warranty in October 2010. The warranty process took exactly 1 week and the only cost was the ~$5 it cost me to ship the dead ballast to them. Been fine ever since then.

Sorta. They're no different than any other P&P HID kit as far as installation goes.

However, it has been determined that the light cut off is the almost identical between halogen and HID bulbs. The problem starts to arise when you go for HIDs that are visually brighter than the halogens. HID bulbs come in a range of color temperatures and wattages and the visual output is different from one temperature/wattage to another.

I personally think the blue 8000k+ is blinding as ****! 3000k puts out the most lumens and the higher the temperature the less lumens is put out.

But, i'm not sure if it's the color or that everyone likes to put 8000/10000k bulbs in their reflective headlight housing.

Isnt that the whole point goin hid? To get a brighter light. So if I were to do the 35w 6000k bulb would there be a noticeable diff. And would I have to do a retrofit

Edit

I don't give a crap about color. I want bright. So if I can do the hid with out a retrofit and not blind everyone or kill my projectors then sweet. If not then I'll wait to do a retrofit

The light output on HIDs isn't exactly linear, it's a bell curve with 4500k-5000k being the brightest. Anything else won't be as bright, going both towards purple and yellow.

I chose 8000k because, from what I could gather, the light output is very close to the same as the stock halogens. Meanwhile the halogens were 55w and the HIDs I got are 35w. So I am drawing less power for a light solution that should last longer. I decided to get HIDs in the first place because one of my halogens burnt out.

For the same light output, I consider the light scatter/cut-off to be acceptable. If I wanted to pump out as much light as possible, I would do a full retrofit.

You don't have to and people have said they've done to swap to HID's without a retrofit and do not get flashed by oncoming traffic. But, it's highly recommenced that you do a retrofit. Not only will the light not have any flood (light that could blind other drivers) it'll be concentrated in the areas it's needed most, making for a more functional headlight/HID assembly. And, of course it'll be brighter. Color aside, all HID's are about 3 times brighter than a standard halogen bulb.

They look like this to match up with the 90deg angle of your borlas

The 08+ are almost completely straight. If you haven't had the chance to look under your car this might look confusing. But the 08+ stock headers in the picture are mounted just past the second O2 bung, right next to the left set of exhaust inlet ports. Hard to see with all the heat shield. Sorry for the bad explanation, if I was on a computer I would just circle it.

Thanks for the help..I will most likely be taking the car and headers to an exhaust shop and having them make me a custom mid-pipe. More expensive but might be easier. If I go custom, will I have to do work for the 02 sensor?

Do you know what size the stock 06-07 mid-piping is? Only reason why I ask is because I have a catback that is 2.5 inch and not sure if it would even work together.

I saw you coated your headers..any purpose or for looks? I will most likely just paint mine to help prevent some rusting and for looks.

So with out doing a retrofit at this time what would be the best watt and lumens to go with. I've got Sylvania zxe right now so if it ain't brighter than those then I wont do it.

Your o2 lead will have to be extended. It's a $15 part and then you'll have to solder two lines together and hear shrink the wire.

Stock mid pipe would be 2.25". BUT.... You'll need a 08+ cat back, it comes with a mid pipe that you won't be able to use because you need a 06-07 mid pipe. If you got a wider mid pipe it wouldn't line up with the back half of your 08+ cat back.

Your either buying parts you can't use if you get a full 08+ cat back if you want to use these headers.

Best bet if you really want to use these, your borla rep headers, 06-07 high flow cat pipe, 08+ AXLE back. And have your local muffler shop fabricate a custom 2.5 inch mid pipe straight through pipe. It would be completely one off and a unique awesome sound. Getting just the axle back will offset the price of having to buy high flow 06-07 cat pipe.

4300k 35watt drop in HID kit. It'll put out approximately 3 times the amount of light.

Alright guys, need opinions here.

SPT exhaust or Nameless performance?

A local guy is selling an SPT which is rare around here to find. I dig the looks, not sure how it sounds, but anything has to be better then our stock exhausts.

The Nameless looks excellent also with the small tube mufflers. Sounds great from the limited videos i've seen.

The SPT I can probably get for $250-$300, where as the Nameless is $430.

I was initially going to grab the Nameless but since the SPT popped up locally is that a good buy?

Couple of guys on the rallisport thread did it for a bit. They said it was barely audible over stock. Not louder just a little different, and not worth it without a decent cat back.

Damn buying both is just so expensive and i really would like that boxer rumble. Im not looking for anything insanely loud just something that has a nice boxer rumble to it.

I don't know where you got that info... daylight is about 4300K & that's most OEM HID output. Stock halogens produce about 3200K therefore they're yellowish.
