Fog Light Help, What am I Missing?

So when I bought the car off of my co worker, it was missing a Fog Light
and the one on there now doesnt work. Well I got lucky and received a free OEM replacement fog light from work, that just so happened to be the side I was missing.

Well today I was going to do the install, and put in new bulbs.
After getting the old fog light out, and looking at the harness where the missing fog light was I realized I was missing something.

Here are some photos of my discovery.

This was plugged into it


Set up was different where the old fog light was, but the Fog didnt work anyways.


Im assuming he used to HIDs on his fog lights, but what am I missing to get these fog lights on with normal halogen bulbs?

It doesn't look to bad. All you need to do is unplug the connection in the 2nd picture and put a bulb that fits. Same with the other side. The hid kit should all be their in that section.

But you never mention the setup inside of the car for the foglamps. Theirs countless connections he could had done unless he went factory set up.

Make sure your factory foglights come with the brackets.

Well im pretty sure he took the HID stuff with him because theres no ballast.
So I need to figure out how to hook up the fog light directly to the plug in picture #1

I had bought H3 bulbs because thats what I read the fog lights use,
and they look kind of like this


but that end of the bulb doesnt plug into the plug from picture #1

Check again on the bulb.
On your bulb in the picture the metal part of the bulb is the ground and the wire is for the power.

Your plug on the car won't match with that bulb. Either be creative with your wires or find a pigtail/connector that will match the bulb.
If your looking for a pigtail look at autozone or junkyard. (Don't say it's for a fog lamp)

Recheck the bulb type make sure it fits in the foglamp changing the connector on the car is easy.

so the pigtail connector should be like an adapter from the bulb to the fog light harness?

bought some Ttaps and male/female connectors, the plan is to ttap the power and ground wires behind the harness plug

and then wire them to the H3 bulb..... any advice?

Didn't work out this morning. The old fog had to be t-tapped and rewired and the new fog light came with the harness plug. Neither one of them turned on.

I checked the fuse under the dash and for some reason there was a #30 fuse when on the cover it says there should be a #15 fuse.

I tried putting in another #15 fuse from a diff slot but it still didn't turn on.

This is my first time trying to use fogs on the wrx so i wasn't sure if there is any other way to turn them on besides the one button to the left of my steering wheel? When I pushed the button the indicator light on my dash lit up.

If the wiring is OEM then the headlights must be on before the fogs will come on.

Yea my HIDs were on then I'd push the fog light button and the indicator light would come on but not the fogs

Yeah theres only one button to turn them on. Did you check the fog light relay? Do you hear the relay clicking when you push the foglight switch?

Yes, but the headlights (not drls) have to be on first.
