Ok, so on a Limited Sport Hatch should one get the OEM Rear Spoiler???

I would like to hear the pros and cons from both perspectives and possibly have you post some of your real world pics.

They way I understand it, is you have to drill into car; therefore, once in, ...there's no going back. So, I really want to think this through.

It looks like it just sits on there like an after thought, as the lines/contours (from the few pics I've seen); I mean you actually see the body of the car around the edges (hope that made sense).

Is it stable?
Ok to go through car wash?
Does it make a MPG difference?
Window dirtier/cleaner?
...and anything else you can think of?

Overall looks great, but need convincing; or not...

Pros: some people like it, no MPG or downdraft gains
Cons: costs money, OEM looks better IMHO, window gets dirtier with it on.

That's my 2 cents.

I've nevere tacked on a spoiler to any car. Imo- it only serves to attract the wrong kind of attention. Like teenagers in clapped-out Civics, and worse- police officers.
I say save your $$ and buy WeatherTech mats that will ACTUALLY protect your floors and are functional. Maybe some RallyArmor flaps if you EVER drive on dirt or gravel. The paint will thank you.
There's my 2cents.

I haven't driven through a carwash with my non-spoiler'ed Premium because I'm afraid the antenna will get ripped off. Why not an integrated antenna, Subaru? Or at least a shark fin.
If it did get torn off, it could take many months to get a replacement, as every replacement part seems to be on a long backorder.
Ok, there's 2cents more, now I'm finished.

Shark fin FTW

Obviously, I wasn't a fan of the rear spoiler; but if you like the look, go for it!

For those interested, got the sharkfin from here, color-matched to my door. A little pricey, but worth it to me to get rid of the ridiculous looking little prick antennae!

I got my car without it but didn't like the look without the spoiler, so I decided to get it (and the front underspoiler) when the opportunity came up to order them at a good discount. No regrets; I like the slightly sportier look it gives the car, without being obnoxious or distracting. I've been through the car wash just once, but had no problems, and I highly doubt you would either seeing as it's an OEM part (so long as you install it correctly).

I put the spoiler on my Sport Premium. There's no gains mpg/downforce or what so ever. The spoiler is for the purpose of appearance. Some like it, some don't it's up to you. IMO the rear of the car looks a lot better with the spoiler, without it just appears that something is missing.

The spoiler is stable if installed correctly, you can go through a car wash with no problem (other than the antenna).

You will need to drill 4 holes and if you want to remove the spoiler you'll need to get those holes filled and repainted.

So before buying and installing make sure you'll be happy with it for as long as you have your car or until you want to pay a body shop fill and paint the holes.

Nice pics! Can't wait until my MBP sport comes in! I ordered it with the Front underspoiler and rear wing so it will look just like that.

I agree the wing is for appearance and I think it makes the rear end of the car look better.

Interesting. Their address is just down the road from me. I should drop by one day to see if they do cash sales (and if there is any CAD pricing or hometown discount available).

I installed one on my 2012. I swear it added at least 20 hp! Just kidding. It did make the car look a little more aggressive and sporty. Oh... And my wife wanted one.

I placed a factory order for a '13 SWP Limited on 8/27 that included the rear spoiler. Then I started doubting whether I liked the looks or not. I decided to remove the spoiler for now, given the fact that I was undecided, and I knew that the spoiler required holes be drilled in my car. The dealer was able to modify my order without incurring a delay. Who knows, I may add it later ...

My car's sport trim comes with a spoiler by default, no issues with it so far whether it's day to day driving or going through a car wash. I did swap out the OEM antenna for a shorter metal Perrin one, as I don't really think the shark fin antenna looks good on hatchbacks.

Could you please post a picture from the back? I have a DGM Limited and am debating if a useless piece of plastic is worth the cost.

Here's one pic. Haven't had time to take more. Was going to take pics after I take it to get clayed and sealant done.

Also, question. Is your hood flush with the headlights? Mine seems to be a bit above. Wasn't sure if this was just how it came or if I had one that was a bit off.

Here's mine. In my opinion, it enhances the look on the back of the car exponentially. I just wish it would blend in a neater way with the "small spoiler" when seen from underneath.

They all come with the small spoiler, did you mean your car came with the extra extension or the same spoiler that they all have?

Are the holes drilled into sheetmetal or plastic?

If sheetmetal, I'd say "no thanks".

not trying to hate, it just looks like an afterthought on most colors. i feel that way about the aero splash kit too. those and the spoiler look ok on black and white, every other color it looks like pieces of plastic glued onto the car. because.. well nevermind.

Can anyone check their hood to see if the tips are flush with the headlights? Mine are a bit off....

My car is a Canadian version and I have the sport trim. It comes with the spoiler already (the extra extension) from the dealership.
