Most of the times I am seeing for Infineon at Sears Point are 4 or 5 years old. What's considered fast there these days? Is a 1:37.5 fast?

Overall Track Record or respectable time: 1:16.07 was the old and the new NASA TTU lap record is 1:14.43

I just needed the track temp to come up more and I think a 1:13 is very doable. It was very easy to overdrive the car and slide around in the first 2 laps (all I could do without lap traffic).

Date: July 07

After reviewing the video from last week's trip to VIR I took a look at a video clip from 6 years ago. I even broke the two videos into splits so I could see the time difference. I was 4sec faster from the Start/Finish line to the bridge, 3.5sec faster from the bridge to the apex at Oak Tree, not quite 2sec faster from Oak Tree to the '1' brake marker at the top of the roller coaster, and a bit more than 3.5sec faster from the top of the roller coaster to Start/Finish. The difference on the back straight is primarily gearing, since I don't imagine my speed entering the straight has changed appreciably. I have an Outback 5th gear in the car now, which means it actually accelerates in 5th gear, so my terminal speed is about 10mph higher at the end of both long straightaways.
Updating over 5 years later...

Car: 97 Legacy 2.5GT w/ RCE T2s, FHI 4-pot/H6 brakes, probably ~120whp , 245/40-17 Hankook Z214s, STI 6MT, broken rear sway bar endlink, etc.
Track: VIR Full Course
Time: 2:26.5 (via ChaseCam GPS timing)
Date: Nov 12

I was at VIR from Sat - Tues and was pleasantly surprised to see times in the high 2:20s. My recollection was that my previous times had been in the low 2:30s, so I came looking for this thread and confirmed that. I think the car is actually slower at the ends of the straights now than it was 5 years ago. I've got some videos from this weekend, I'll have to go back and pick off the split times like I did 5 years ago to see where the differences are.

It was all in the lack of rear sway bar.

I think the car is actually slower at the ends of the straights now than it was 5 years ago - not surprising, as the engine had Cobb heads and cams on it back in 2007 and the current engine doesn't have that stuff. You laugh but I went 2 seconds quicker in my FRS at VIR when I ditched my rear sway bar . It just kept the Torsen from unloading so I could actually put the power down.

Vehicle: 2013 Scion FRS
Mods: Element Tuning Custom Valved BC BR Suspension, Brembo front STi brakes, race pads. I shed and gained some weight but about 2970 lbs with driver. Totally OEM engine and HP (dynoed 155 whp)
Track: VIR Full (high 90s F)
Tire: Hoosier Radial Slick
Time: 2:17.44 (8 seconds quicker than OEM FRS driven by Mike Skeen for reference)
Overall Track Record or respectable time: That weekend the fastest Spec Miata was 2:21, Fastest Spec E30 2:18, Fastest GTS1 2:18

As you can see I'm getting murdered on the straights but the handling and braking are phenomenal.

This was the first time out with the car setup so there's a little more time in there for sure once we dial a few issues out.

Finally got the 1:13 at Summit Point in my limited Nasa TTU trim.

Vehicle: 2006 WRX STi
Mods: Element Tuning Engine, Element Dry Sump, GT65, Hydramist, Hydra EMS, Element BC ER Custom Suspension, Clutch Masters, GT Spec, Fulcrum Aeroworks Wing, Engine limited to 495 whp (class restriction for adjusted power to weight)
Track: Summit Point Main
Tire: Hoosier Radial Slick
Time: 1:13.7
Overall Track Record or respectable time: New NASA TTU lap record 1:13.7. GTS5 Porsche 996 RSR Lap record 1:17.3, Super Unlimited record Super Lite Coupe 1:15.5

A ran a new personal best at VIR in Nasa TTU trim. After seeing how slow my car was on the straights we ditched the double rear diffuser at Watkins Glen, which worked so well to grab me a new track record at Summit Point, and I went 1 second a lap quicker. I'm pretty confident I can make a run for the TTU track record held by Danny Popp next year.

Vehicle: 2006 WRX STi
Mods: Element Tuning Engine, Element Dry Sump, GT65, Hydramist, Hydra EMS, Element BC ER Custom Suspension, Swift Springs, Clutch Masters, GT Spec, Fulcrum Aeroworks Wing, Engine limited to 495 whp (class restriction for adjusted power to weight)
Track: VIR Full
Tire: Hoosier Radial Slick
Time: 1:56.5
Overall Track Record or respectable time: TTU track record 1:55.06 Danny Popp, Rolex GT cars race in the 1:54-55 range.

Watkins Glen Long Course

Mods: Element Tuning Engine, Element Dry Sump, GT65, Hydramist, Hydra EMS, Element BC ER Custom Suspension, Swift Springs, Clutch Masters, GT Spec, Fulcrum Aeroworks Wing, Engine limited to 640 whp
Track: Watkins Glen (High 30s low 40s F Cold!!!)
Tire: Hoosier Radial Slick
Time: 1:57.3
Overall Track Record or respectable time: Anything sub 2:05 is blazing fast. The 1:57 I set is the new Whelen TTU lap record.

Do you have the Data for that lap? Love to see the Vmin and VMax of the different sections.

I don't unfortunately as I just started running basic telemetry at Watkins Glen. Even in a very basic form it was quite helpful. I have a couple things you can use, one is the video from 2011 UTCC which had a Race Keeper system in the car. It's going to be a similar lap time but it's going to be slower in the turns and faster on the straights since I was running more power but the car wasn't as grippy.

This article highlights the telemetry corner by corner at VIR comparing our car to a Nascar Car Of Tomorrow and a modified Z06.
