Screen installed over TMIC

Put a window screen (standard aluminum stuff) over the TMIC. I don't think it impedes airflow much at all. Am I wrong? I don't have Amy way of knowing if the IC isn't working 100%.

I probably would've went with something with a little heavier mesh and a little bigger openings. Birds and rocks are about all you gotta worry about, most non-Amazonian bugs won't damage your tmic too bad or at all. Take it out and put it in front of a decently powered fan and see how much air flow you get through it. Not real world driving conditions but it'll give you an idea.

I come from an industry where I deal with the airflow in and out of things. Your screen will lead to slower airflow which will get worse if leaves, debris, etc. get stuck on the screen. This can and will lead to additional heat in the IC, but frankly without knowing what else you have done under the hood, it is tough to say how much. That is something a heat gun could answer. If you are in stock mode and haven't done anything else, the heat increase should be minimal and should not affect your performance...SHOULD being the operative word.

It will impede airflow, how much no one knows. Take it off and live your life. Will the screen work better than a few bent fins caused by bugs....who knows...who cares....if there was a need, the 79 engineers at Fuji Heavy Industries would have put one there.

The car is totally stock. I've had a screen on there since I bought the car. Just replaced it for the first time. The fins are in great condition probably from the protection the screen gave them.

This thread is ridiculous... are you just bored and wanted something to do so you added a screen over your tmic because you dont want bent fins? Did you do the same for your radiator while you were at it?

i resemble that remark.

use hardware cloth (at any home supply place) $5 buys enough for your tmic and radiator. i tripled over my tmic. air flow is not an issue. i clean when anough bugs/rocks/debris shows. paint the radiator screen flat black and no one will know its there. andrew at andrew tech endorses this. only noobs think no protection is safe

I like the idea but I don't want a restriction.

I have a tweezers in the door pocket, I use it to straighten out fins while filling with gas.

Did you put a 20lb ballast in the trunk and an intake restrictor on too?

If you're going to mod the car, MOD the car. Otherwise, leave the engineering to the engineers.
