My first Subaru was a 2004 WRX that I owned for 5 years. I loved it but deep down I had always wanted a STi. When the time came where I could finally afford one, I waited and searched for just the right one. In May of 2011 I found a 2008 WRB STi with 3x,xxx miles on it all stock.
Upon purchase I immediately ordered and installed the Invidia turboback quad tip exhaust, Accessport, and BC coilovers. After that I wasted no time getting the car up to IAG for an alignment and to have the taillight vinyl applied. I was more than pleased with the car but knew I wanted to go with a larger turbo sometime down the line.
Due to a blown motor a buddy of mine was parting with his Dom 3 setup for cheap and by September I was making 346whp/357 trq with his old setup. The car ran a little rich and the drove a little rough but I loved every minute I spent behind the wheel.
Not two weeks after I got the car tuned things took a turn for the worse.
First I was rear ended by someone on a busy road during rush hour. It was a low speed hit resulting in a small dent on my rear bumper from her license plate screw. Since I didn’t want to hold up rush hour traffic over such minimal damage and since I had her insurance information and pictures of the whole thing I told her I wouldn’t call the cops and that I would be in touch. Turns out the phone number her insurance company had was now disconnected and the only thing they could do was send her a letter asking for her side of the story. I was told if they didn’t hear from her in 30 days the claim would be handled by a supervisor and they would determine if they are going to pay me or not. Sure enough 30 days pass and they didn’t hear from her. I offer up my side of the story and my pictures (which they didn’t accept) only to be told they were not going to handle my claim. They told me to go file with my insurance company and if I told my insurer what happened they would sue the other insurance company for my deductible back. I called my insurance company to make sure the other company wasn’t trying to screw me and my insurance assured me they would get my deductible back. My car was fixed and to this date I still haven’t received my $500 deductible back.
Pissed, but just glad to have my car back things were looking up from there until November 11, 2011. I was waiting to take a left turn at a green light (no arrow) at a busy intersection and I was sitting in the intersection patiently waiting to take my turn once traffic cleared or once the light turned red. I see the light go yellow and prepare to clear the intersection. The light turns red and now I need to clear the intersection, there is a car stopped at the red light opposite of me so I couldn’t see the car in the other lane about to blow the red light. I was t-boned by a guy who swore the light was yellow. I had two of my friends and my brother in the car; my brother was sitting at the door that got plowed in to. Luckily no one was injured but with no witnesses and since the other driver’s story didn’t match up with mine it was listed as a no fault accident and I was stuck going through my insurance again to fix the car. Luckily they didn’t total the car and after two miserable months I got the car back.

I toyed with the idea of selling the car and moving on to something different but once I got it back I remembered why I bought it in the first place. Not two months after I got it back from the body shop the old turbo inlet coupler tore on me and I was **** out of luck getting a new one. I replaced the inlet twice before I got one that worked right. Somewhere during all of this some lines got disconnected and a solenoid got broken. The car wasn’t hitting the proper boost levels and was very sluggish. I decided once again to take my car to IAG and have them realign the car, mount my new tires, fix any mechanical issues, and retune it. They fixed some vacuum/boost leaks, threw a few new parts on, and the car dynoed at 356whp/361 trq.
Finally my car felt complete. It drove like a dream on this new tune and I was grinning ear to ear anytime I drove it. I got to drive it maybe four times before I noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust under boost. Irritated I had a compression and leak down test performed at a local performance shop. I was hoping the turbo finally bit the bullet since it had around 50,000 miles on it, but of course it can never be that simple. Low compression cylinder four.
It was time to do this right once and for all. After talking with Rick at IAG about my options I towed the car up there once more and dropped it off to have the motor built. Of course things can’t go smoothly for this car even when the professionals have it. Apparently Cosworth had a batch of cams where the oil passages were drilled opposite of how the oil flowed. Guess who got cams from that batch? Rick, JJ, and all the guys at IAG went above and beyond to make this right at no cost to me. I just got the car back a month ago and am still breaking it in. My retune is scheduled for the weekend of September 22nd and it can’t come soon enough.
Thanks to all my friends who have helped me work on this car and have listened to me bitch about it on and off for the past year. Huge shout out for IAG as well, none of this would have been possible without their expertise and attention to detail.

I want to enter my 05 STi. This car has had quite a history behind it. I bought it 3 years ago from a forum member in North Dakota. Before he owned it, a member owned it in NJ and the car was featured way back in modified magazine (black 05 sti with red demon eyes, XX Tuning built). The first owner tracked it, raced it, and it went through 2 motors.
The second owner bought it and it went through another motor. He tinkered with the car and added and changed a lot of the motor work, adding a rotated turbo setup.
Then I came along, I saw it for sale on iwsti.com and had to have it. I have owned 6 STi's so far, this one being the one. I was currently in an 09 hatch STi, but I wasn't fond of it. I had to get myself back into an 05, which i originally had.
Deal is done, I receive it and it turns out, the motor was bad AGAIN. The shop who had built this motor twice now was not going to get it back again.
I turned to my very good friends at EFI Logics and they basically said we have to tear it down and see what's up. Upon tear down, all four pistons were cracked (JE's), all the bearings and walls were heavily scored...it was a mess. I didn't even get to drive the car. The previous owner thought the motor was good.
My build was ongoing. I didn't want to stoop on anything. The Ultimate Racing GT35R kit installed was still in great condition. After the build, it was time for the 1,000 mile break in! Easy enough. Time for tune... but
I had a coolingmist meth kit, which chris the tuner, wasn't too fond of...it just was not cooperating....and on top of that, the 255 fuel pump was maxing out! Off the rollers it came and we contemplated what to do. Chris suggested a Full Blown dual walbro setup, as they were familiar with a dual pump setup as well as swapping to an aquamist HSF6. I left with a detuned car and waited for my appointment for these two items to be installed.
When it was finally fnished, her final numbers were 510whp/473wtq on 93 octane and meth, tuned by my late, good friend Chris Schoen-Kiewert. The car could have made more power and I had plenty of injector duty left, but the actual design of UR's downpipe was limiting it. It's bend an odd way, so that with all those big power pushing, is actually restricting it. Air and Fuel were barely maxed.
The car has been in my hands since and I continue to change it's appearance, never settling on a look. It has had a big Varis wing on it before, candy red Enkei PF01's, you name it. I'm still in the process of changing pieces on it and getting it perfect to my eyes. She's never finished. The quest for more power will continue. I currently work at a Hyundai dealer and have just started my new shop called 987 Motorsports, which will be opening soon. Thanks to EFI Logics and everybody up there for building an amazing car and having the best customer service around, as well as being a close friend.

I forgot that I wanted to enter for this a while back!
My name is Taša Salyards - located in beautiful Denver Colorado! I have two other Subaru's (02' WRX and 04' FXT) but this one is by far my favorite. My love for subaru's started over 7 years ago when I bought my 2000 Silverthorne 2.5RS coupe. I grew up in the mountains and learned how to maneuver the curvy roads in that car. As much as I loved zipping around town in it, I just was feeling like I needed a change. So I started peeking around for a nice WRX to buy. Well I found it, in New Jersey.... and have had that same WRX ever since! Of course - I couldn't help but need moooore powaaaa. So three years ago I bought my first STi, it was an 08' AW Hatch. A year or so later, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a purple-ish car, so I sold the hatch and ordered this beauty....
At this point in her life - she is mostly a garage whore. I have a long commute, so I drive her a couple times per week. I like to attend any kind of car show/meet and try to hit up a couple of track days every year.

I'm not sure if this post is even active anymore and my car is in the middle of an engine build but I'm bored so might as well enter =P My name is Shane and through luck and hard work I've had the opertunity to own my affordable dream car at the age of 22 and through even more luck and money I've been able to build it. I bought my 2008 subaru STI limited hatchback in the begining of 2012, it was completly stock with 60k miles. Since then I have tracked it, put it in shows and driven it up and down the west coast multiple times. The car has seen all the way down to long beach, Ca, all the way up to canada, on sereral different highways. I guess what I'm trying to say is I like to drive =P anyhow, aweek after I had it, I was on a track and a week after that I was doing my first mod and this is what has resulted since....

Okay so... My story. I'm sure some details will be left out or forgotten but here goes. I have been a proud USAF member since i joined in July of 2007. I picked up my first Subaru in 2010 which was a CGM 07 wrx. I then tastefully modified it to a nice 322whp/351tq. That just wasn't enough so i started pricing transmissions and built motors. I quickly came to the conclusion that i needed an Sti.
I started baiting one of my good friends and top scoob 030 candidate Airmancam to work out a deal on his beast. He has always had a love hate relationship with it but when it came time to cut the check he just couldn't part with it but also helped me find another local and possibly iconic Sti. Byroll01 had his hard work, (and wallet) poured into the car i decided to purchase in april of 2011.
I immediately had to have it as soon as i got my first ride in it. Problem was, I had a deployment the first week in may. I drove the car twice, changed the oil and put it in the garage. After three months of online shopping from Afghanistan i returned to the vehicle and a few parts. There began my love/hate relationship with my race car.
Myself and a few friends began switching up a few things to personalize it although it was very tastefully done so some being minor and others not so minor. Dom and Maxwell Performance had done an excellent job with the motor build and much more but I had to rep my buddy John Visconti of Visconti tuning for all my ECU work. He's always done all my tuning and i've never had a problem so why change a good thing.

Well where to start? I originally joined the Coast Guard in the summer of 2005, after bootcamp I was transferred to the CGC Tampa in Portsmouth VA as a good old E-2. After spending sometime at the bottom of the barrel I decided on the rate (mos) I wanted to go. So it was off to Petaluma Cal for Electronics Technician school. When I completed that fun time I was given orders to Loran Support Unit. While I was home before reporting to the new unit I picked up my 2002 Subaru WRX. And has been my obsession ever since. While at Loran Support Unit I was fortunate enough to fly all over the country working on the LORAN system and meeting suby people everywhere I went. Also was able to participate in the 48hrs of Tri-State, during my time there I was able to go from E-3 to E-5. After that took the car cross country to Seattle WA where I am currently stationed on the CGC Mellon working on the CIWS (Close In Weapon System) not going to lie pretty cool system. Now I sit waiting on the E-6 list and just received orders to help instruct in the Coast Guard Academy Electronics Lab.
A quick note of the car, although not really performance related but something I'm proud of. The car has been daily driven since I bought it and have managed to rack up 160k miles. Prior to doing my drivetrain swap I was at 155k miles on the original clutch, flywheel and only repair that had to have been done to the car was the radiator due to the oh so common split on the cap.
Also before I forget I want to throw a quick shout out to everyone thats helped me with the car along the way. I've tried to do almost all the work myself other than some random things over the years, the engine build a tunes.

Well, I've always wanted to take a stab at the top scoob contest and I figure that this will be the most appropriate one, at least for me. Sorry if I end up running on with this but hopefully you enjoy what I have to say and the car I have to show.
So it all begins on March 9th, 2009 where I found myself standing on funny yellow foot prints at Parris Island, SC for 13 weeks of Marine Corps boot camp. It didn't take long to start being blasted by Drill Instructors, however, I worked my way through basic and then on to Infantry training battalion (ITB) to become a notorious USMC Grunt (0311-Infantry) and then wound up in 3rd Battalion 6th Marines India Co.
Then, we were tasked with what ended up becoming the largest battle in the Afghan war to date in 2010 when 3/6 and 1/6 along with other supporting units were tasked with taking control of a city called Marjah in the Helmand Province of southern Afghanistan. Got to Afghanistan Jan 5th, 2010 and then inserted into the desert to spend 9 days in fighting holes surrounding Marjah fighting off extreme cold (desert in the winter was brutal and often below 0), sand storms, freezing rain and occasional indirect fire from the taliban. Then it all came together on February 13th of 2010 which we noted as "D-Day" and pushed into the city which was followed by 13 hours of fire fights that day. I experienced more things that day alone than my entire life. From Cobra attack choppers covering us with hellfire missiles, to mortars, up to Harrier and F18 gun runs just to get us moving from compound to compound. Days passed and the heavy fighting subsided into more of a guerilla warfare from the enemy.
Then it finally hit me. 4-ish months and well over 50 fire fights finally caught up to me. May 20th, 2010 I was on a foot patrol in Marjah when we came under fire in an intersection while on a supporting mission. After that ended, we continued on our mission and found ourselves at the same intersection later that day. However, this time the enemy had placed an IED in the road and organized a complex ambush. Unfortunately for me, as the radio man along with grenadier I was targeted, and the intiation of the ambush being the IED was detonated on me. That is all I remember.
Fast forward a few weeks and some time in a Brittish hospital in Afghanistan, then again in Germany, once more at Andrews Air Force Base, and finally got back to Camp Lejeune, NC where I was originally stationed. Here is a picture of me and a buddy in Afghanistan with a detainee who was making IED's. (I'm the creeper watching my friend put on chapstick)
This brings me to the story behind my Sti.
While I was deployed I agreed to have my family sell my Audi TT so my brother could get a car and I would just get something when I got home. He previously had an 04 wrx with an FP Green and a dog box so it was pretty fun. Once I got back on my feet I had to get behind the wheel again and while my parents were visiting me for the first time since I had been home I saw it... My future 2008 subaru Sti... while we were going to dinner. I had to have it, and I had all that yummy deployment money to blow. So, here she is, stock and all shined up:
It wasn't long until the mod bug hit me either as I have always been into cars. After looking around nasioc for some time I ended up getting myself a Cobb AP, intake, and TurboXS downpipe which did add quite a bit of pep in my Sti's step.
However, it wasn't enough. I had to have that car that sets me apart from the rest. Sorry, I'm competitive by nature so it is what it is and the dollars started flyin' while I was living paycheck to paycheck rehabbing in NC.
Thus came the first "large" bit of modifications to the car which included the following and then some (this is just the idea):
AMR T60R turbocharger, AMR cast up pipe ,AMR turbocharger inlet tube ,Agency Power UEL, Perrin Performance FMIC (wrinkle black piping, silver core), 3.00" downpipe with QTP cutout, Perrin Performance cat back, TGV deletes, Agency Power fuel rail and line kit, DeatschWerks 1,000cc drop-in fuel injectors, Aeromotive Inc. 340lph in-tank fuel pump, Walbro fuel pump installation kit, ACT Streetlite flywheel, and ACT HDSS clutch.
Due to only being able to post 5 pictures, I am going to hold off on those for now and can throw some up elsewhere or check out my build thread.
Now, that brought me up to 408awhp/381awtq on an open source tuned. This was fine and dandy and I was satisfied with the car knowing I was pushing it's limits at that. In the mean time I added some new wheels to the collection: Enkei RPF1 18x10 +38 wrapped in 265/35 BF Goodrich Gforces and powder coated black. There were also some small projects that took up my time which youll see in my parts list. Then, that fateful day came as I was heading back from leaving to finish out my time as a Marine and I spun a bearing. Sigh. Time for a built bottom end I guess!

Anyway, luckily for me I had the time to be able to do all of this work myself. Took up a lot of my summer with waiting on misc. parts and whatever to come in. I needed to stay to myself as adjusting is pretty hard being combat wounded and all. Took out the old block and in with the new along with some dress up stuff and small other additions like a Grimmspeed AOS. Got back on the road and broke it in.
Now, in the mean time, I had just bought my first house which isn't too shabby for a 23 year old as well as I got back into the books at Rochester Institute of Technology for the first time in over 4 years so a lot of my focus went there.
Now, I am tending to a bad turbo. Just sitting for some time, 20k pretty hard miles, and some shaft play has led to an oil issue.
solution, new turbo: ATP GTX3582 with Tial 44mm EWG. Should be here next week so I'll keep that updated elsewhere.
So in the mean time, it still drives, just burns a little oil here and there but gets me from A to B. Lastly, I'll leave you with the full parts list and a couple more pictures.

Here's my entry;
My name is Jeff and I am a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. I joined in June 2008.
I picked up my 2004 STi in Aug 2009 after finding out that my 1988 Forester blew a head gasket. I bought my STi with 36k on the motor, a WRX wing, Rota Torques, and 06 tail lights. My initial plan was to have a Stage 2 daily driver but I am far passed that point. I first started with just a CAI, then the exhaust and road tune came. Then a carbon fiber hood/trunk and a front lip.
I did the 05 rear bumper and quarter panel flares after being rear ended right before being activated for a deployment! My STi sat in my parent's garage for seven plus months while I was away for pre-deployment training and deployment.
I used a good amount of my deployment money to buy car parts to make my STi faster and lower. I was able to pick up Tomioka Racing as a sponsor when I came back stateside. A few months later, I went back to a OEM look and I picked up Status Racing seats and did a photoshoot for them.

Getting mine started now so I can get in before the cutoff, will have some nice pics after the weekend.
USN Navy VN Vet, 74-75. Served on the USS Midway in VA-115, A-6 Intruder Squadron. Then I went to the USS Enterprise for the rest of my duty.
Right now I prefer the old school stuff, but have done many upgrades to this one so its got a lot of new gen stuff going.
The soob is a 1989 RX and the black ones are very rare, only made in the last half of 89 and the last year the RX was made. I bought the car almost 7yrs ago and it sat for about a year while I looked for another engine (EA82T). Long story short, I went through 5 engines (and 2 trans), the last one being a rebuild from CCR. They just couldnt handle any boost above stock and it was the 2nd engine I blew the ring lands off a piston.
So I was able to source another engine, this time a EJ22T. I also picked up a partially worked over wiring harness and other necessary stuff for the swap.
I've also upgraded the suspension, its now 5 lug instead of the 4 lug, so my choice of wheels have improved.
All work on this car has been done by me. I've had help from a few friends putting stuff on, but it was limited.

The lighting on these old school soobs were dismal, to say the least. I put some serious thought into this and came up with the idea of trying to fit projector lenses with HID's in the stock buckets. Now I have NO issues seeing where the road is at night. Also installed LED running lights inside the buckets with LED signals in the corner lights.
This is where its been somewhat lacking right now. I have put so much time and effort into getting this running as a fast and dependable car, I havent done much to the body and paint. I do plan on fixing all the dings and plastidipping it very soon.
I'm only posting a teaser pic right now and I will probably edit some stuff, because at my age I suffer from CRS
Of course I need to show a before pic...
I havent been able to do a dyno run to see what kind of power its putting down due to the stock clutch/PP not being able to handle the torque. I will be installing something soon that will tho. Also have more upgrading to do, mostly to the brakes. I did install a master cylinder from a 92 Legacy SS, but I think I need to upgrade the booster also. I have some 4 pot front calipers from a RS to put on, plus that will allow me to have bigger rotors. I also have some ideas for the rear hubs so I can run bigger brakes/rotors.
I have a pair of JDM Stg2 DOHC EJ20 heads that I've been sitting on for a while, not sure yet if I want to go that route.
And as a side note......I have won my class at WCSS for the last 5yrs.

Hello to my brothers and sister in arms. I am a E5/SSgt in the United States Air Force as a Aerospace Engine Mechanic (engine troop for fighter jets). I have been station in the Pacific region for a very long time. I'm married to a beautiful Japanese wife and had two beautiful daughters. When I was station at Misawa, I owned a 93 WRX wagon in 2001. Then by 2003, I wanted more power so I bought my 95 STI with a full Ver 3 STI swap (TD06 20G turbo and a dog box tranny) primary setup for drags. I then moved to Kadena AB in 2004, driving 6.5 hrs south from Misawa AB to Tokyo and then I put my car on the ferry which took 3 days from Tokyo Bay to Naha port on Okinawa.
While I was on Okinawa, I broke my dog box and installed a 6spd with a 2 way rear Cusco LSD in the Summer of 2005. Then in 2010, my car was in a front end accident which totaled the car. I stripped most of the parts, sold off parts that I didn't want and I picked up a 1999 STI RA Limited #450/1000 in 2009.
Ever since then, I have truly enjoy the car. I did do a Ver 8 STI Spec C engine swap and installed Ver 7 interior in the Summer of 2011(reasons: i blew up the original EJ207 non-AVCS motor). Aaron Dearborn aka RB2B and Shane Connolly aka surfskater2003 (along with others friends that isn't on NASIOC) helped with the engine swap and wiring up the car to accept the GDB STI wiring harness. For many years, I have been participating in the local gymkhana events. Some of you guys may have seen those videos off of youtube.
Ben Yang aka jaxscuby road tune my car. While he was here as a contractor on Okinawa from Nov 11 - Sep 12, I ran into him on New Years day 2012 at the Nago Bullring track. He taught me a few things about rebuilding motors. He tuned my car with a open source tuning and got the engine to run extremely clean. The car can boost at 1.4-1.5 bar of boost between 3,900-4,000 rpm with the stock boost control solenoid.

So I don't post around NASIOC on a regular basis, I stay around the AWD Pirates community in the Colorado scene. I was considering not posting this, because I didn't have this car built for personal recognition or gain, but for the recognition of the Men and Women that either didn't make it home, or came home with worse scars than the rest of us (both visible and not).
So my story in a nut shell. I enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 11th, 2007. Graduated boot camp on December 7th of the same year. Trained as a combat engineer, deployed to Iraq late 2008 to early 2009. Came back, started work-ups for Afghanistan. Deployed to Afghan 2010 to 2011 and immediately went to separations for the end of my 4 years.
Fast forward to December 1st, 2011. One of my very close friends, and fellow Corporal, Nick Kimmel, stepped on an IED and lost both of his legs above knees and his left arm at mid bicep. I was pretty torn up about what happened, especially considering we didn't know if he would make it for about 4 days. Finally we got word he would be flown to Bethesda, endure more surgeries than imaginable, and was expected to make a full recovery.
Fast forward to February, and I felt I needed to do something to honor my good friend and fellow warfighter. I decided to turn my 2005 CGM WRX into a memorial to him and every man and woman like him. Hey everybody my name is Chris. I'm a Ssgt in the Air Force Guard. I work as an engine mechanic on the C5, love my job since its all about job security lol. I recently relocated bases down to West Virginia after doing 4 years of my enlistment at Stewart ANGB in Ny. Only deployed a couple times to Germany, Spain, and of course Afghanistan. Haven't really done much to my car since I bought it in October of 2012 after coming back from Afghanistan. It's an 04 wrx. Motor: internal is all stock only bolt on is an SPT intake. I've installed a 3" catback and a cobb accesport which I'm flashed for stage 1. On the outside I've deleted the ambers using this forums DIY, painted my stock rims and shaved my key hole from my trunk. Still have tons of stuff on the list to do to it but mainly involves routine maintenance for now. . My present to myself after coming back from Afghanistan . My daily driver lol

Man where to start with my love hate of a relationship of a car! First I will start with my story I'm currently a E-6 Flight Engineer in US Army I work and fly on chinook helicopters(MH-47G). I've been in the service for 6 1/2 years and have completed multiple combat rotations.
Now onto the car I picked my STI up about 2 years back after trading in my 07 legacy GT. I purchased my car with minimal modifications already done (wheels, fart can, and coil overs) it did not take long for my modifications to start. I've always enjoyed hearing a turbo'd vehicle drive by growing up and still do today this car was my dream and now its mine! I'm currently in my third "revamp" of the engine bay.
The most recent tune I was sitting at 475whp and 438wtq on a stock EJ257 running E85 with speed density. I knew from the get go it would not last long but hey I needed to justify building a motor to the wife. I have not done a whole lot to the exterior as you can see, I bought the STI because I really enjoy the way it looks so no need to modify it!

Well, I decided to ad my loving Bugeye into this competition and see what happens. I am in the middle of a motor build as well as a lot of the guys on Fort Lewis that I hang around.
I served 6 years in the active duty Army and less than a year ago ETSed to pursue my other career path.

It’s a great honor and privilege to serve alongside the dedicated military members serving our country. I currently serve on Joint Base Andrews as a SrA in the USAF. I dedicate my post to show my support for all of our military members who make daily sacrifices.
I bought my 2004 STi in April 2011 as part of my goal to have my STi before my 25th birthday. The car was located in Delaware, so had to take a road trip to test drive and look at the car. A week later, I had a check in hand and drove up to purchase the car. I fell in love with it instantly. The car has a whole story by itself. The previous owner purchased the car brand new and started modifications in 2005. Unfortunately, he lost his battle to cancer. After he passed away, the family kept the car in his memory. Eventually, bills started to pile up and they had to sell the car. Lucky for me the car was posted only on craigslist...which allowed me to locate it and scoop it up for a fair price!!!
Dreams do come true, but reality eventually settles in… the car was void of proper attention for over a year. Needless to say, I had a lot of bugs and maintenance issues to resolve as a result. When I addressed the mechanical issues, I was bitten by the modification bug. I have transformed the car to fit my needs and vision. It’s got the clean, understated yet polished look that I feel does the STi justice. I’ve put the modifications to rest to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I’ve traveled to regional events and car meets with other enthusiasts. Drag days and skid pads have shown me it’s true potential and advanced my skills as a driver. Next year I hope to enter autocross events and possibly take the challenge of a track day. Our next route depends upon a change of station or not. I’d love a new climate with new terrain to explore how versatile Subaru’s truly are!

Hi my name is Sgt Richard Campbell and I am currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. I drive a 1999 Subaru Impreza WRX STI type R. I am stationed on Okinawa Japan. I joined the Marines Feb 2008 and have been hard charging since then. How I ended up with my car is proof that bad luck isn't always bad. At the time my wife was driving a Legacy B4 twin turbo and to make a long story short it met a curb and well bent the frame. Just so happened a buddy of mine was selling the STI so I bought it thanks to the kindness of my wife. She let me buy whatever I wanted. Since then the car has been slowly "upgraded" in between deployments. Next on the list is to finish the GDB swap with a ver 7 EJ207 with AVCS and hopefully twinscroll. She is still in the build process.

My name is David miller I am a spc in the army I am currently stationed in Okinawa Japan. When I found out that I was being stationed here I automatically whited a badassed car. I saw this subie sitting in the car lot and it caught my eye. So I go over there and talk to the guy they just put it on the lot that day. It was all stock and the only thing going throw my mind was me watching Colleen McCray drifting around corners and I just had to get one and do it. This is my story and I am sticking to it.
A few years ago I was a golf caddie making great money but it was seasonal. Hard to raise a family when you don't make much for the winters. So I thought about it for a long time and decided to serve my country and get a consistent check. It would help the family and we would be better off even after serving. I did the while boot camp thing and went to school for the H-60 platform. I arrived in Norfolk Va at my current duty station, I needed a car before I could try and find a place to live.
I scoured nasioc and all other sites I could think of to find a red wagon for the wife to no avail. A month later I came across the car I have now, it had more performance stuff on it than I was wanting for her but the deal was too good to pass up. I arranged a ride up to New Jersey to go check it out and hopefully purchase the car. I got there at 2 a.m. and was tired as hell, I looked the car over, test drove it and bought it and drove all the way back down to VA.
A few months later I was throwing parts at it left and right trying to get it setup for the upcoming autocross season. I raced the whole season of 2011, 35 events total. Blew through a set of tires and drove the family around everywhere in the mean time. Fast forward to 2012 and I was correcting suspension geometry and still working out bugs from the previous owner. The end of May there was an event at NCCAR that I got a chance to attend.
The motor went BOOM! on the track and I limped her off. I was towed a few hours home and I immediately started trying to find a replacement motor. A few days later I had a complete version nine swap sitting in my garage. With work being only a few miles away I was able to walk to work while I completed the swap, ten days later she was fired up for the fist time.
Back to doing double duty she went after a sweet tune from Phatron. Autocrossing commenced and I was loving the new twinscroll around the tight layouts we raced. A few months later I got everything dialed in (for the most part) and then changed her up right at the end of the season with some new coilovers. I loved the new feel of them but it was the last race of the season. I knew she needed adjustments and those were made a few weeks ago by getting a complete corner balance and alignment. I am ready for next year's season.
Here we are today. The car is doing great and it feels awesome knowing that I have done everything to this car myself with the help of some good friends along the way. The kids love riding in "daddy's race car".

I just saw this thread and decided to give my car a shot.
My name is Travis and I am a SSgt in the USAF. I enlisted in 2006 as an airborne cryptologic operator/linguist and have been stationed at Offutt AFB since the end of 2007. I have deployed 4 times for a total of 18 months and have racked up 1,600 hours on something like 250 missions in ISR aircraft over Afghanistan. I am a graduate of both Defense Language Institute Monterey and DLI Washington. I spent a year at both school learning languages. I have enjoyed my time in the military and will hopefully get some more deployments in as soon as possible.

I bought my WRB 2004 STi in 2007 right before moving to my first duty station. I bought the car from my friend who I met in college before I enlisted and who is also on this board (WRXtranceformed). He had just finished having the car built by Andrewtech and tuned by Phil at Element and I was able to pick it up from him for a steal because he hooked me up knowing I'd continue where he left off. Which I have been trying to do but the car is far from where I want it. After I bought it I had to wait a little bit before I could go and pick it up. When I did finally pick it up I got to drive it from DC, to west Texas and then up to Nebraska which was a super awesome drive considering the car was making 450awhp on pump right from day one.
In the Fall of 2008 the 2.8L engine that was in the car went out on me. I went on a few deployments and the car just sat. I then got orders to DC for a year of language training. In December of 2009 a couple of friends and I drove my friend's truck from DC to Nebraska, put the car on a flat bed, and towed it back to Andrewtech in Maryland to have them take a look at it.
The new block sitting at Andrewtech.
Since the 2.8l that WRXtranceformed had had installed in the car was finished I asked Andrewtech to get me back on the road with a new built block. We went with cp pistons, eagle rods, acl bearings (which were on serious back order causing this build to take forever) and another set of ported out heads with cosworth cams.
Phil at Element put a break in tune on the car and my friends proceeded to drive the car around for me since by this time I was back in Omaha and preparing for another deployment.
I managed to get a few days with the car in Virginia in the fall of 2010 before heading overseas. My friends dropped the car off at MachV for me so that Mike and the guys there could redo the piping, wiring and overall look under the hood. I was going back and forth with Matt and Dan about the things I wanted them to do via email while I was deployed. Matt and Dan did a great job of taking pictures and sending me the invoices so I could keep track of what was going on and although it was hard to make decisions like what color for the powdercoating being so far away I think it turned out great.
After MachV, before heading back to Element Tuning
Once all of the work at MachV was complete my friends picked it up and took it back to Element Tuning so that Phil could finalize the tune. I was back for a few months between deployments and spent a lot of time talking with Phil on the phone about what I wanted. I wanted to upgrade the Hydra which was a version 2.1 to the newest version, as well as add Hydramist. He upgraded the pump and injectors as well, and installed an eBoost2. While he was doing all of this work I was back in Afghanistan for a few more months. When I came home I took leave enroute so that I was able to pick up the car and drive it back home to Omaha. In fact I did a little more than that, driving it from DC to Toronto, and then through the midwest back to Offutt where I have been daily driving the car since.
Phil never got the dynosheet to me but I don't care. He says it did 445awhp on a mustang dyno at 20lbs, 93 octane + meth. The goal was to make over 500 but he thinks that the newer blocks are weaker and are more likely to blow up at that level so I'm keeping it conservative.

Ok I guess I will give this a shot. My name is Chris and I have been a Veteran for 6 years now after serving 6 years (December 2000-December 2006) active duty in the United States Air Force as a Electronic Warfare Technician. I joined the Air Force December 12, 2000 and after basic training I spent 8 months (Febuary 2001-Septeber 2001) at tech school in Biloxi, Mississippi. After graduating tech school I got orders for my first duty station which was Kirkland AFB, New Mexico and spent one year there (October 2001-October 2002. Six months after I got to Kirkland I changed my dream sheet to all overseas bases and left my stateside list blank because I really wanted to go to Germany. Two weeks later I got orders to Misawa AFB, Japan. When I got to Japan I hated it for the first year and experienced culture shock but after that first year Japan began to grow on me and I started getting out more to see the country and learn the language and culture. I lived in Japan just over 4 years and it was a life changer for me. The biggest life changer was getting married and having a kid. The second was buying, modding, and racing my first Subaru which was a 1993 WRX. I separated with an honorable discharge from the Air Force December 12, 2006 and moved back to the US with my wife and 6 month old son in the beginning of Febuary 2007. I got a job in aviation electronics and bought my 2007 Subaru Legacy Spec B brand new in March 2007. The End

2nd owner blew a rod bearing in the first motor. replaced with a motor from washington...i found this out a month or so after i bought the car and found the original motor and now it sits in my storage unit.

VISCO - 2011 STI Limited
Hey All. My name is Luke Visconti and I am an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran in the US AIR FORCE. I have been a pretty avid Subaru enthusiast for about 6 years now and I am currently on my second Suby. My current Subaru is a 2011 STI Limited in Obsidian Black Pearl.
So my journey to what made my car what it is today is strictly based on luck of finding a great deal. I am originally from Western Massachusetts, but I moved down to Navarre, Florida on the Emerald Coast for a new job. When I moved down to Florida, I happened to one be surfing around craigslist and stumbled upon a 2011 STI Limited for sale. It was one of those situations that I just couldn’t pass up. After the oh-so exciting process of getting a loan, I now owned my DREAM CAR. I have been a HUGE fan of the new style STI sedans since the very first day I saw the spy photos from Japan. I instantly had a new favorite car and only hoped to own one someday, and out of sure luck, I now had mine. I have decided to turn my nice and smooth black STI into a LOW, DARK, and MEAN monster of a car. I have never been one to name my car, but out of a very odd conversation, the name “Seabiscuit” was given to my little Black Stallion. Yeah, it is WICKED cheesy, but it somehow stuck with the car.
The car was 100% stock at the time of purchase, aside from the Subaru OEM Rain Visors that the previous owner had installed. I really had no idea in what direction I wanted to go with the car. With my previous Suby (2005 WRX) I had no trouble just going online and taking bits and pieces from cars that I liked and making my own from that. But with the 2011, there wasn’t much to build of off, since most right minded individuals wouldn’t decide to modify the snot out of their $40,000 car. I first decided to set it up with a nice little Stage 2 performance modification to give it that nice rumble that is COMPLETELY NECESSARY, and give her some ponies just in case someone wanted to try and pick on my little 4 Cylinder Jap Car.
After the small performance mods, I began to add little bits and pieces to darken the car up and make it more of a “one off” kind of car. I began to customize the look to more of an All Black theme and began to order parts, fabricate some custom parts, and do some painting to get rid of all those little sliver and chrome pieces that Subaru decided to put all over the car.
Once I got to a good look on the outside of the car, I then went in to make the true look of the car. I got some wheels and tires that were pretty aggressive, and combined them with my favorite set of coilovers. It took me a couple months to get it all together, but I finally got everything on and DROPPED her HARD. My driving style is pretty ranged, but I am TRULY a Rally Kid at heart. I have had my fun with that, but there won’t be much rallying in this car. I do enjoy the occasional “spirited” bit of driving, but for the most part, I like to just cruise around the white sand beaches of Florida’s Emerald Coast. There is a VERY STRONG Subaru community down here and I seem to fit right in.
I REALLY enjoyed building this car and appreciate all of the help that I received from SO MANY people. It didn’t take a VERY long time, but it took a lot of hard work to get my car to wear it is today and I can guarantee that if my car gains some popularity, you will be seeing some changes in the near and later future. I have always been a fan of changing up my cars and I have A LOT of things still in planning for my car. It would be really cool to see my car blow up on the internet, but one can only hope.
I hope you all enjoy the info and photos of my car and the story that built it. I can’t get enough of this thing, so I am hoping that you feel the same. It would be absolutely AWESOME to win TOP SCOOB, but that all is up to you guys. I really hope you like the car and maybe someday you will be seeing it in magazines and all that jazz. Haha.
