Default Condensation inside tail light.

It's been raining for a few days, and I noticed a fog inside the drivers side tail light... a bit of condensation. also, the fog lights do it a tiny tiny bit when I wash it.

The car is about a month old and I'm wondering if this is something the dealer can take care of?

Have any of you had this problem at all?

Thanks!

-Dan

If its not excessive, its probably normal. There was a TSB for the 06/07 WRX and STi for fogging in the taillights, and to inform the customer it was normal behavior.

There is some kind of TSB out for this for the FR-S/BRZ, they will replace the taillights if you are having this problem. It's not considered normal.

True, it never hurts to bring it by a dealer when you have a free moment

This happens to mine too every time it rains. I'll take it to the dealer under warranty but I have not got around to it yet.

Just posted this-- http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2435645

No, it's not normal if it recurs and stays since it more likely be a tail light sealing issue. I believe you can put a demand on the warranty like I did. Dealerships are good with resolving that via tail light replacement. Mine occurred when weather's got more frequently wet and temps got colder. There may also be several more subie owners out there with a similar experience.

Like I said earlier, this is actually a known issue on early FR-S/BRZs and they will replace the light no questions asked.

That would be bad if they would consider that normal.. If i bought the car new and saw this, you better believe it would back at the shop until it was fixed..

Some of the early production cars had issues with the studs that hold the light onto the body being tightened too tight and it cracked the area around the stud letting condensation in. Warranty repair.

Perhaps a little late in response but for anyone who has this issues..

Purchased my car in mid June, 12. Condensation on rear tail lights in the first week during car wash. Warranty replacement part came in within 2 weeks, no questions asked. Problem haven't reoccurred since.

I believe it's a recall now, at least the dealer told me that. Might replacement taillights are in and it only took a week. I suggest you call your dealer as it appears your paperwork was lost.

For the record I have an FRS so maybe Toyota took all the lights

I called Subaru of America and the dealer the following day, subaru said the taillights were on back ordered but they had received them last week and they still have them in stock, while the dealer said they still haven't received it.

Sadly that is now the least of my concerns, my gps doesn't work, my windows controls stopped working, ecu needs reprogramming, drl is also getting foggy, and engine makes the cricket noise. I'm bringing the car in for repairs on monday, but the whole thing got me down.

A lot of that is minor. Annoying, yes. Minimizing their impact on your life? No. Major? No. Car still drives fine, right? Well rip through the gears, bro!

The window thing is major because of rain and snow coming up. I think I'll have to get out through the passanger side so the window doesn't open when I open the door.

What's up with the window? There's a section in the manual on disabling/enabling the auto-roll down/up feature.

The driver side auto up and down doesn't work, drivers side isn't able to control passenger side window, and when I open the door to leave the car the window doesn't automatically close itself.

I'm going to look into that while I wait for my appointment.

There's a couple threads like that; not sure if it's related to what you've got going on, but good luck.

I can't wait to see what real winter weather will do.

I picked up some Kleen-Flo Rubber Care at Crappy Tire. There wasn't much to choose from in this category, but it is silicone (and petroleum) free, so hopefully it will do no harm.

I guess I'll find out in the morning if it works or not. My last car had frameless windows as well (Genesis coupe), but I only had issues with the windows once, and that was forgiveable as it was during an ice storm.
Probably what you're seeing.

Mine just started doing this as well. Odd considering there hasn't been any precipitation and it was fine when there was precipitation.

I haven't seen any in mine, but I know that my E92 M3 headlights got condensation in them when I washed it, but it was considered normal.
