Sorry for the delay. Thought I'd be subscribed to my own thread -_-
Yes, they are large, and were surely expensive. As tacky as it sounds, I like both the look and the performance from the size. My fenders are already rolled for the size and I've got some suspension work and wheels that compliment that size. Ended up getting them for $1475. Not the worst but not the best either. I like no loss in performance in my car, regardless of season. Started with Blizzaks a while ago, loved them, then switched to a cheaper all season alternative and hated it. Thank you all for your contributions though. May seem like a useless thread but I'm trying to post more instead of lurking all the time. |

Why do you want such a wide, dedicated snow tire? Isn't a skinny snow tire
better? |

yes, but only in snowy conditions. in the dry, wider will be better, but if you only plan on driving them in the dry, summer tires would be better
265 in the snow would seem like driving in a toboggan. where did you get the tires? on tirerack they were $920 + shipping. my shipping was only $70 from them 2 weeks ago, but i only got 195s. |

wow. **** that noise, you got pretty boned in that deal. shipping charge is ~$60 iirc. would have cost ~$13 per wheel to swap onto your car at most tire shops.
![]() also you really don't want a wide snow tire, skinnier in the snow the better. you need to cut through the snow to get to the pavement under it. skinny with tall sidewall will give you much better snow/ice grip. if you like the look of sitting flush like your summer setup, get some spacers. |

I'm also incredibly impatient. I'm trying to work on it. I have a huge issue with wanting things immediately. Hopefully I can get more involved here and start making more friends in the car world. Been lurking too long. |

I have 245 snow tires, $50 a tire from Tire Rack since they were an odd size and I had a set of 9 wide wheels to put them on so it worked out. They were my first set of blizzaks so even though they were wider than I had planned they work great in the snow, 10x better than the previous all seasons I had. I'm sure you'll be fine.

The Tiens and Brembos make it a tad bit more difficult to do wheel swaps for winter right now. It might be something I look into for next year if I don't like the wide Blizzaks. But I was rocking these on the STi BBS' which aren't that large, but still a bit wider than most tires. It handled more amazing than I could ever expect. I've never had wheels this big before so we shall see how it all works out towards the end of the season. They drive like a dream on dry road though. Hugs corners very nicely.
So far I'm happy. Could have paid less but oh well. I'm not butthurt about it at all. Just need to learn. I guess we could just turn this into a general winter tire thread. Lots of helpful info in here already. |

not to hijack the thread but, I need my snow tires mounted to my stock wheels (they're already off the car). The cheapest I've found is like $16/Tire. Anyone know of anywhere cheaper?
I'm in Utah county but I work in SL county, so I'm open to driving anywhere in those regions. |

yeah if you need help, just ask. most people in here are willing to help. some just have small penises and have to tear everyone down though, don't pay attention to them.

Do we really need winter tires down in SLC? I can see getting winter tires up at Park City and closer to the mountains but in the valley the snow has never been that bad and they usually pretty good at cleaning it up. I've been driving with all season performance tires (Yokohama) on my Acura and thinking about doing the same with my WRX when I receive it.

Haha yeah I'll probably avoid the canyons during the snow season. But I'll definitely drive up there during the summer to enjoy my WRX. I never really drive a performance car so I probably won't be able to tell the differences. Anyone know how much a set of steelies usually go for?

Yeah I've been driving in utah snow for about 9 years as well. Never used snow tire just performance all season tires with FWD vehicles. Never get stuck on a hill or get in a snow related accident. That's why I always wonder why people has to get snow tires for their WRX/STI
