there's no awd dyno in RVA. Several in DC and Baltimore area, check MAIC vendor section. I took mine to IAG for an engine build and pro tune. Great experience with pro tune with jorge...4 hr session $500.

Just and FYI, there is an AWD dyno in Richmond. Adrenaline Autoworks has a dyno but not sure if they tune Subaru's or not. There are some really good shops up in Northern Va and Maryland that do that kind of work.

As someone else stated its a bit of a hike for you but I went to IAG (Westminister Maryland) this past weekend and loved it. Jorge flies in once a month, and everyone at the shop was professional/friendly

I went up to MachV.

There are AWD dynos in Richmond, but I couldn't find a shop that would tune in Richmond. Matt Shue said he would do it, but I would need to rent the dyno out for him or do it on the street.

Agile tuned mine a couple years ago, and it's still running great.

No, that is the name of the shop P Tuning, which I believe is in Manassas.

I would avoid adrenaline auto.
A few years ago when I needed a pro tune I called them and they didnt even know what a 3 port bcs was so that was the end end of the conversation there.
Went to Mach v for two tunes and have been happy ever since.
I would also mention that I don't know if adrenaline auto is a good shop or not but they def don't have subaru experience.

How many Subaru's has Shue tuned? The DMV area is where to go to get tuned.

He said he has tuned Subarus before, but didn't throw a number out there. It didn't sound like he had used the Cobb AP before though. You can look him up on Facebook. He's very friendly, and answered all my questions quickly.

I have heard great feed back from Mach V in Sterling, VA. I heard bad feedback on Agile. Met an STI owner who claimed their map was the cause of his Ringland failure on piston 2.

Just throwing in a recommendation for Mach V (www.fastwrx.com) everyone at the shop is really friendly and helpful, and Dan (the owner/tuner) has gone above and beyond for me and my crazy requirements (I had him give me separate tunes for street and rally use)

I've known of Shue for a long time. I know he is one of the best Honda tuners in the Richmond area. The only thing the majority of us are saying is, why risk it? The DMV area has shops that have proven to produce reliable tunes that hundreds of customers are happy with.

If you want to get tuned by Shue then go for it and tell us how it works out. The more Subarus he tunes with a positive out come means a better rep for him and could fill the void central VA has when it comes to reputable Subaru tuners.

I agree. It would be very nice to have someone in Central VA that was familiar with tuning a Subaru. Although if I had an extra Subaru to play with, then I'd probably try adjusting the tune myself.

I however opted for Dan @ MachV that came with high regards as I've said before. If you use the search feature, there is a thread with tuners and their contact info. Pick one and then google their name to find as many reviews as you can.

If you want a reputable tuner for a Subaru, and you live in Richmond, make the drive. It's not really that far of a drive. Look at it this way, you have 2 hours of highway or a little longer on the back roads to see the results of your tune on your way home (not condoning speeding on a public road).

There are also eTunes, I went with Stephen Clark from IA performance.

Great guy, solid tune for 20k+ miles

There are many other very reputable eTuners here on nasioc as well.

I feel like you end up with a happier car after the an etune. Road tuning allows for more variables to take affect, like downforce and actual cooling efficiency (not a fan or your tmic/fmic).

Plus it saves a few bucks and puts you right in the action during the tune.

The only issue is finding a decent stretch of road to do the wot logs.

anybody in the hampton roads area you guys would reccommend to tune with AP. Its been a while for me but if i remember right all aspects only tunes on the utec. My car is tuned with the ap and pulls really well in boost but i really feel like the low throttle, out of boost tune could use some tweakage as according to to the aem wideband its run pretty rich, would be nice to get a little better gas mileage when Im not heavy on the throttle and to lessen the smell of a rich tune.

Default e-tune

1. I've heard of Adrenaline, went to the shop and all I saw were Hondas.
2. The guy that blew his piston landings ... if his car is an 08 STi ... that might be why. I have an 08 as well and had the same issue (it's a known issue with the 08 STi) - had to rebuild with forged piston
3. What kind of mods and power goals do you have in mind?
4. I agree with evil

Considering how much knowledge and information is available to you on this website, if you take it to Adrenaline...well you should get slapped. Drive it a couple hours north as already stated to IAG, Mach V or Agile. They all charge about the same and these shops specialize in Subarus. I had my previous 02 WRX w/ 18G tuned by Dan at Mach V who did a great job and my current 35R STI tuned by Jorge at IAG which I'm also very happy with.

I used Adrenaline to weld a simple flange to my cat-back, it's still holding and not leaking but it took the guy like 2 hours and came out looking like bird poo.
