Has anyone bought a flip key from the eBay seller who started listing these after I created this thread? What instructions is he including with the shell?

Yes, but you would have to replace the remote module (see link in first post).

I have read the first 18 posts while clicking the links and searching the other sites and trying to find the info I want. I think I figured everything out I just want to double check. I have a 2013 WRX and I want an All in One key. Can I just buy the 2011 legacy key and program it and have the key cut?
If not, would it work to just take the internals (including the blade of a key I already have) and put it into the legacy key? |

I just read every single page of this thread. Awesome instruction. Though I haven't apply it yet. Sound pretty easy to do.
Most folks here have success cutting up their their master/valet/spare key and transplanting their transponder chip to the flip key shell. But I haven't find anyone that address the following question that I have. My question is, is there a transponder chip already built into the 2011 legacy key where the dealer can just program that along with the rest of the remote function to work with your car? If the answer is yes, it would save me an extra step of destroying the key that I already have. Thanks |

I'm a fan of what you did with the rubik's cube right there.

There is a transponder chip in the legacy key but I don't think dealerships can program that. Only the remote functions.

IMO, most people have no use for 4 keys, so it's not a big deal to cannibalize your current key to make a new one. Haha. |

Local dealer was really impressed, and intrigued about the whole flip-key. He seemed pretty perplexed at the thought of it, lol.
Key works great, and you're right, I think the distance/range from how far it works is better than before! And these fit so much nicer in pockets, it's rediculous! Thanks Ben! |

Ok, just one last confirmation, my 2011 STI tear drop fab remote has FCC ID of CWTWB1U819. Will this work with the 2011 legacy programming?

TA DA! Thanks xluben!
Difficulty is a 3 out of 10. The only tool I recommend is a Dremel to cut the valet key Last edited by f1speeder; 11-30-2012 at 08:39 AM. |

For others: For any questions, please email me (not PM or my box will fill up) via NASIOC (click HERE), and I will help you as much as I can! I am still getting a lot of PM's. If you PM me I will just ask you to send me an e-mail. I have to empty my PM box every few days, and then I lose all of the conversation history, so it just does not work for helping with questions. Please send me an e-mail instead. |

Ouch called a couple of locksmith in Queens NY and they all say it's 150 to cut the key even without programming. Anyone have any luck finding a place to cut it for cheap in NYC area?

Use your gray valet key. That's what I did. The only thing is you can't lock your glove box with your key.
