This is a shout out to all the people who have already responded to my last NWCS post by e-mail, telephone and posts in this thread. Thank you all for the information you provided and for your support to this newcomer. Your messages have confirmed my original thoughts that the people I have seen at the meets are all extraordinary and harbor no hateful thoughts or animosity.

President Franklin Roosevelt once said, "It is better to jaw, jaw jaw, than to war, war, war." In the last weeks I have witnessed jawing escalate into full blown warfare which seems to have destroyed a thread that has endured almost 4000 posts. Tonight, I went over the posts for the last few weeks to see how this happened. What I saw was some instances of what used to be called bantering. The new Internet term is trolling, but trolling is different. The difference is that bantering, although it can be sarcastic and cutting, is by definition good natured and thus has no long term harmful effects. Guys being guys. On the other hand, trolling is malicious and intended to harm and destroy. I would like to think what has happened here is more the former than the latter but just misinterpreted. What was thought of as trolling by some members was really just bantering. Or maybe just that someone had a few too many drinks or a sore butt some of those nights and now regrets those posts?

At any rate, I feel somewhat cheated as a late member and poster. I have been deprived of a useful, informative, and fun recreational website. (I have to read far too many other serious and depressing business sites by day.) I hope my few posts haven't contributed anythng to the conflict. I hope we can soon see an armistice and then a continuation of the site as it was before the instant conflict began. Maybe some good old schmoozeing in place of the bantering for the time being will work to this end. Jaw, jaw, jaw.

I saw in my research of old posts a reference to unheard from Original Gangsta's who haven't posted lately. I wonder how they are feeling and reacting to all this. I wonder what it would take to bring these OG's back into a happy fold? What say you all?

And I saw a couple posts by the moderator, including the last post, so someone must be reading this. I wonder what his function is in this situation and if I have ever met him at one of the meets? Is he an OG or a SCOOBY NEWBIE like me? Whatever, glad to make your aquaintance, Jack.

Tom... heres a breakdown. its basically the person running the meets telling another member that they cant come. A lot of the OG members dont like the power trip and decided that wasnt fair, and thats not what this site is about.

This member has taken it upon himself to hand pick who and who is not allowed at the meets. If you viewed my posts as trolling, then thats your interpretation. I didnt think this members actions were right and decided it was about time that somebody said something.

I stopped going to the meets becuase I was sick of Jgibbs and maddsubielove talking trash about vision.dynamix, sdeeg, whoever they didnt like that week all the time. It's petty and speaks volumes of the character of both.

P_W, Thanks again for keeping this thread running and freindly. My appologies to you if you thought I said anyone was trolling. If you carefully re-read my post you will see that I said I hoped the interchanges were bantering mistaken for trolling. "...What was thought of as trolling by some members was really just bantering..." Also, from my perspective, the bantering appeared to come from both sides and even the moderator.
Sometimes I feel like "blind justice" in this matter because other than one individual, I don't even know the cast of characters involved-I haven't linked up screenames with real names and faces. I do know there are two sides to every story and that everyone I have met is a good human being and that the meetings I attended were cool, even awesome and it is my sincere hope that everyone can reach an agreement to all get along even if we have our differences. After all, the tables at the restaurants have long boards or are even separated. But friendly dialogue, time and good will may shrink those boards eventually and bring the tables together. This story seems to need the wisdom of Solomon to provide a happy ending. I am not Solomon.

I guess I will just watch to see how it all unfolds and hope for an amicable conclusion. The holiday season is upcoming and that is a time of peace.

i would like to thank you Tom for going out of your way and take time to post all that you have in here. i personally know the majority of the members that attend these meets, whether by coincidence that we knew each other before and happen to both own subarus now, or have meet in the past because we own subarus. i might not agree with what some have posted, i may not agree with what some have to say about others, but i do agree that it is all banter and is nothing that cant be overcome and put in the past.

as of right now there is not only 1, but 2 fbook "meet" groups that have come out of all of this. i am "member" of both. do i think it is a bad thing to have these, no. but like Tom is saying it is not fair to exclude anybody due to the differences the a few may have with each other.

i enjoy going to these meets as well as my gf, even if there are people there i may not see eye to eye with i able able to either ignore them, or let it go for the time being. it is not worth it in my opinion to have to go through all this effort just to hang out with people who share the same interest, you put a group of people together it doesnt matter what it is, there is going to be differences, thats the great part about opinions, we all have them, but its a matter of how those opinions are represented.

i really hope this will not be my last post in here, but if it comes down to it, i will separate myself from it. i love all of you in your own special way (total homo meant) and know i will be able to see most of you outside of this separately but would prefer to have the group as a whole, the way it should be.

Oddly enough, none of the other meets are like this. Ive been going to the Worcester meets for over 3 years and nothing like this has ever happened. I sometimes go to the Milford, Boston, Quincy, NEAWD/Nashua meets, even weekly meets in NJ, PA, MD, VA, WA, CA, and Ive never seen anything like this.

If youre interested in meets with a great crowd, The Worcester Monday Meets are what I would recommend.

Here's what's up.

First as a matter of explanation. Yah....I drop in and make a snarky comment once in a while. If those are not welcome in the thread, pm me and I'll stop it if it offends you. I will.

Next, some of your posts have been mass deleted. I see a page of diarrhea after getting a report and I nuke the whole page. If you had a comment and feel that I did you wrong by deleting it and you really want it back, pm me with a link to the thread and I can bring it back.

I don't know what the hell is up with this group. I really don't. Yah.....I know Khan can get out of line and is sort of a professional troll, but he's very good at staying just on this side of the line. Yah, he's e-annoying, I get it. You can put him on ignore on nasioc and never have to see his comments again.

Besides the occational issue with Quincy a year or 2 ago, mostly caused by an outsider making new usernames and crashing Quincy's (and Worcester's) meet threads, I never get problems like you guys cause.

I really don't get it. Come down to a Worcester or Milford meet. Everyone is so chill, I think I could snap my fingers and everyone would fall asleep standing up. Even with Khan there.

At this point I think the group needs a cool down period. Starting another thread right away will just end the same way, IMO.

Its obvious meets are being organized elsewhere. Lets leave them there for now.

i agree with this. let it cool off in here and keep it to the separate meets for now. start fresh after some time off.

I'm not saying its a requirement to go. I just want to go to meets and I'm not interested in going to a private only situation. If people want to cool down thats fine. I just want to have a thread to talk to friends and meet cool people in again and this isn't it. Its not a thread to transfer drama into, its a fresh start.

couldnt agree more with this as well! i was not a huge fan of the private meet idea, but if thats what needs to be done for a little while to get something like this back on track than so be it. i just want what you want, a bunch of guys in a close circle...wait...
