Did you cut the black and the red wire and extend both of them? I just did this mod and noticed the tension. Any specific wire I have to use to extend it? thanks

Jeez.... I see you posting in almost every single thread I'm subscribed to. Lol.
But I second this comment, I've been watching this thread and was considering cutting and rewiring. Any special gauge wiring anyone would suggest who's done this?

Haha we share interests. But I ran over to Oreily and picked up some wire and crimps. I cut both the red and black, attached a crimp thing to each end (so four crimps per light) cut a new length of wire, and crimped it into the other ends of the crimps I put in. It's really easy.

These are what I was calling "crimps" I guess they're called butt connectors

lol i was just looking for the gauge of the wire. I already have my soldering gun and some heatshrink ready. Personally I dont like the crimp connectors

Well I'll probably be attempting this within the next couple of months, so if I do and it comes out alright I'll post it up here and I'll try to take pics of every step too

I Got a PM from this. I really cannot explain what I do for this since it's been a couple years since I've done it, but I'll make an effort to do a set and take some pictures. As I recall it takes 2 butt connectors (I'm in Vegas, if it were wet I'd solder and shrink wrap) some sniping and splicing. Give me a week someone will want the mod done.

w/ the original poster directions change out the bulb in the new center socket w/ the bulb in the reverse light and you will have the result of the two outer bulbs lighting up while braking. this works bc the bulb removed is a double element swapping for the single element of the reverse light.

Anyone have a spare set of taillight harnesses?

After I did this mod, I rewired my harness to further change my setup, and now have an idea for another mod but want to test with a fresh harness.

It involves rewiring every bulb, and the turn signal bulb will be turned into a secondary reverse light

Will the left side tail light harness fit on the right side? One of the bulbs on my passenger side harness will not come out even after twisting it several different ways.

Is it the bulb closest to you? (If you are standing at the back of the car looking at the passenger side harness). That one was finicky, but I promise, there's a very specific way you have to turn it, then use a little force and it pops out. I've removed that bulb at least 20 times now and it still doesn't like to come out.

For anyone interested, I just tested it on my 05 STi tail lights, the right and left wiring harnesses ARE interchangeable and function perfectly.
