Looks like we officially have 4 spots opening up due to the lack of payment from Nate Tarter, Slavek Kreller, and Tommy Daddono. If you know these people, you should tell them I'm sorry. Rob Sackyta dropped out due to a blown tranny.
I will get in contact with the first 4 people who emailed me to be on the waiting list and hopefully we get the other 4 spots filled this week.

Things are coming together... just a little over a week to go.
We've got a few companies who have stepped forward to help make this a success, and we'll be able to have some prizes and schwag to give out.. special thanks to gorilla offroad, we'll be raffling off a set of mud flaps. And remember to check out the Facebook page for updates. |

We are booked, all 30 spots are filled.
Given the interest we had for this, hopefully we can future events and open up registration to more people. Rallycross events just go so slow generally that it is hard to give everyone enough seat time to justify it once you get above 30 people. We'll have to see what we can do to keep things moving. |

I'm getting excited! Been browsing the web for info about badlands and it sounds fantastic. some possibly interesting links below. hard to glean much info from above, but looks like lots of turf types

The terrain is a mix of hard pack dirt and gravel, it can be loose on top, but generally hard underneath. A few parts needed a lot of work to make it useable by our cars, but the track should be finished by now, they were going to run the bulldozer over it a few times to smooth every thing out. Going out there tomorrow for final inspection, might get some picture and video while out there, so check back tomorrow for updates

Tommy, to answer your questions:
dogs, not sure if the park has a policy on this, I would suggest leaving it at home. Buggy- I'll ask tomorrow (a few other guys have asked about bringing dirt bikes to play around with), will likely require a separate park admission fee, and a park issued flag if you want to drive it in the park. |

I think Nate will be sending out a more detailed email with the sepecifics - But general we'll check:
battery tie down oil level wheels, lug nuts seat belts no loose things in car or trunk As for the track: It is going to be a mix of hard pack dirt, mud, gravel, and sand. It really will test everyone's ability to drive on multiple surfaces. That area of the park is going to be closed off as of Thursday so that they can do final course prep and surface work without worrying about it getting messed up by sunday. The course today was stil a little rough in places, and very slick, but still driveable as long as you took it easy. It should be in very good shape by Sunday. I'll have video up soon. After driving the course today - here are the suggestions I can make: The course is going okay for any car to drive, however I would recommend Snow tires, Gravel tires if you've got them... Street tires will work on the AWD vehicles, but you'll be hurting for more traction. Skid plate: The track will be set up smooth enough that you'll be fine without it, but for anyone who really wants to push the limits of thier car or the track -- you're probably going to want it. Mud flaps: thier is loose grave and mudl, it will kick up a lot... Bring painters / masking tape to cover up areas of your car if you're concerned about your paint. Weather forecast - cold. We'll have a fire going, but be prepared to be outside all day... |

as promised - here is video of the test lap:
track is still pretty rough, maybe 60% complete. As mentioned in the previous post, it will look a lot better by this weekend. |

Badlands Rallycross Racers,
Date/Time/Location The Badlands Rallycross is scheduled for this Sunday, Decemeber 9th. We are going to be at an area on the south side of the park with an entrance directly off of Brier road. If you have a GPS and need an address to type in: Please use the following: 3695 Brier Rd, IN 47918 Google Map Link http://goo.gl/maps/xN35r The gate should be open early. We will begin officially registering cars and doing tech inspection by 8:30AM. Weather Policy: This event will happen rain or shine. If you haven’t seen the weather forecast, we are looking at low 50’s with a 60% chance of rain. Please come prepared. Everyone will be needed to help work the course which will require standing out in the open for long periods of time. You are welcome to bring a pop up canopy to keep your things dry, Space may be limited though so please plan on sharing with someone else if you can. Schedule We have a lot of a racing to get through – so we will be doing everything we can to keep a very strict schedule. If you are not where you are supposed to be at the correct time, the race will go on without you and you may forfeit runs. 8:00 am Gates Open 8:30 am Registration / Tech Inspection open 10:00 am Drivers meeting 10:30 am First car off / Morning session 1:15 pm 45 minute lunch break 2:00 pm First car off / Afternoon session 4:30 m Award ceremony Expectations: If you are familiar with rallycross or autocross events, in general we will follow very similar rules and procedures. If you have any questions, please email us before hand or talk to a safety official the morning of the event. We will go through everything during the drivers meeting as well. Safety is issue number 1, We want everyone to have a good time, but we must keep things safe. Safety Rules: 1. Every driver, rider, and spectator must sign a waiver upon entering the park. 2. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs in the park. 3. No burnouts, drifting, or speeding in the parking lot or on Brier Rd. 4. DOT certified helmets required by all drivers and passengers. 5. Windows must be up while racing. 6. If you have a safety concern, please notify a race organizer Vehicles must be in safe running condition and must pass a quick tech inspection before racing. We will look for the following types of things: 1. Battery is tied down and secure 2. Engine fluid levels okay, no excessive leaks 3. All loose items must be removed from the car and trunk 4. Wheels secure, no loose lug nuts. The racers will be dividing up into 2 groups. While one group is racing , the other group will be helping to work the course. Work assignments will be given out upon registering in the morning. When start racing or switch groups, please transition from racing to working, or working to racing as fast as you can. We will start on time, and if you are not where you need to be when we start, you may forfeit runs. Scoring: We are aiming to give each driver a total of 10 laps. 5 in the morning, and 5 in the afternoon. Cone penalties: 2 seconds per cone hit. 10 Seconds for a missed gate. If you cannot complete a run due to mechanical failure, you will be assessed a ‘bogey’ time (slowest lap time of heat plus 10 seconds) Your total score will be combined time of your 9 fastest laps. (Slowest lap time will be dropped) The entrants will be divided into 3 classes: Turbo AWD, NA AWD, and 2WD. We will have awards for the fastest cars in each class. Other Information: Remember, this is an off-road event. We are doing everything we can to ensure the track is as well prepared as can be done – but it is safe to expect that it will still be rough and include mixed surfaces (Gravel, Sand, Mud, and Dirt). We cannot promise you that your car will come out in as good of shape as it started the day. Gravel is not friendly to paint, especially not when being kicked up by your tires. If you like your paint then I encourage you to use painters or masking tape to protect the sides of your car or invest in mud flaps. We will have trucks on hand to pull vehicles out in the event of catastrophic failure. Bathrooms will be available on the site. I don’t think there will be any food or concessions on site. Please either plan on bringing your own food or having somebody make a run into town to pick up food for you for lunch. If you drive off to get lunch in Attica and are not back in time, we will start without you, and you will be penalized. Final thoughs: The owner of the Badlands off-road park is very excited about this event and would love to make this a reoccuring thing in the future. He’s also pitched some really cool new events to us as well. So lets do everything we can to make this a success so that we can continue to do this in the future. We want everyone to have a good time, but we also really need everyone to help out and keep things moving. The better job we do here – the better our chances are for future events. Also – please remember to ‘like’ out our facebook page and check out our website for more event details, pictures, and results after the race, and information about future events. www.Facebook.com/indiarallycross www.IndianaRallycross.com Thank you, The Indiana Rallycross team. |

i'll bring a case of water and some rolls of green painters tape for those who want to line the edges of fenders...
wondering: should we bring a mini grill with us? somebody must have one.. and if so we can just do dogs and burgers for lunch. lastly, to your point about car damage.. i'm def prepared for that. luckily many ppl coming to/from chicago! in my limited experience, the first thing to fail is often tires and wheels. making sure my spare is working and tools are in place.. |

ah snap, can't remember the number...think 26 haha. We'll see!
Sideways is bringing some samichez, I'm gonna try and bring a small grill and some gub but it's no where near enough for 50+ people...maybe I'll be able to bring the big one but we'll need a list of who's bringing what food...I can be the grill master for a couple hours if needed. -Mark |
