Everytime I have turned my car on today my wipers turn on for a bit then eventually turn off, when the switch is in the off position. I have tried turning the switch on and off all it does is make it go faster doesnt shut off.

I'm at work right now so i dont have acces to a schematic. However i would be willing to bet you have an issue with the "park" function. You know when you turn you wipers off and they dont just turn off immediatly where they are on your windshield? It has to go another stroke then "park" in the off location. Bad ground maybe? Short to power? Check your connections for corrosion for any obvious issues. After that study the schematic, or have an expirenced tech look at it.

I have the same problem. When it's wet out my wipers turn on and won't turn off. Like the OP said if I mess with the switch on the steering column it just increases the speed of the wipers but won't turn them off. I got a new switch which didn't do anything, then I respliced and sealed the wires coming through the firewall to the connector for the wiper motor (I have a swapped 98 wagon) and that didn't help. I went out and got dielectric grease and sealed off the connector and that helped for about a week. Now they have turned back on again so I pulled every pin out of the connectors and cleaned everything out and resealed with the same grease and it didn't make any difference.
Anyone have any ideas? Is dielectric grease even the correct product to be using here? Thanks |
