Is everyone skipping over the comment on my last pic in the original thread?

The only right way to remove just is to cut out even the smallest spec of it. For a temporary fit you could grind it down then use touch up paint, but if you want it gone forever you have to cut it all out.

JB Weld?!? LOL. I had an RS last year that had some of the cancer you are experiencing. Behind the rear wheel wells are pretty typical and up the window pillars and around the windshield. My windshield just had a few bubbles but yours is progressing pretty far. One of my wheel wells looked like yours. It has to be cut out, no way around it. I have a new 220v Lincoln Mig welder I bought just for the RS and I'd offer to help but I have no freakin clue how to use it. I think it scares me just a little

You could cheese the wheel wells by cutting out the cancer and glassing from the inside (there are some access holes that would sort of allow it once the interior panels are removed). You might even argue that is a better fix than welding as the GC has a systematic flaw in that area.. unless you rust bullet from the inside after you weld in new sections rust will eventually return. You won't get away with it on the roof though. The window frame is undoubtedly effected which means the glass has to come out so a lip can be reformed.

You might want to take off the side skirts and check things carefully, especially near the rear wheel well, another common rust area.

Damn rust.

Nice.. and I like what you're aiming for. One step at a time though, take care of the rust and paint first (and interior, if needed). A clean unmodded RS looks better than a rusted uber-accessorized one. Mudlflaps always look good.. as far as HIDs go, don't be tempted to buy and shove in a cheap kit (or any kit for that matter).

do some research on lighting and get some good bulbs, better output and safer than cheap HIDs. Nice car. glw that rust. Temporary fix is to grind it off and spray over it. It's a band aid but will look better than rust bubbles.

i agree those blue shrouds gotta go but i'm jealous in general that you even have retrofits. It's something I've always wanted to achieve with my RS.

look into TRS! I bought my set used, already mounted into a spare set of headlights, but it doesnt seem too hard to put em in yourself and if you need a set to work on while keeping the ones you have on your car in good condition, check out my FS thread!
