I have a 05 wrx and I'm trying to get a sti tmic on it. What parts can I reuse on my wrx intercooler to my sti intercooler? And what parts would I need to buy to make the sti intercooler fit?

I just installed n '05 USDM top-mount on my 03 WRX with a USDM VF-39. I followed the OP's instructions and it worked for me. There seems to be no difference between the USDM TD04 and VF-39 as far as installing the USD STI TMIC. I had to bend my AC line toward the firewall and it will mount on both brackets. I used the stock USDM STI Y-pipe (MY04) and only needed the two custom hoses to install.

2.75in ID at 3" in length
2" ID 90 deg. elbow at 4in. + 4in. in length (four inches on each side from the center) "slightly trimmed"

I located some radiator hose in these same dementions and it worked to some degree to get my car mobile but I later read that radiator hose stretches under boost which wastes energy and creates a lag-then-surge kind of effect. I now ordered the hoses in silicon like I should have in the first place.

I wanted black dull hoses for an OEM look but unfortunately silicon = shiney . Here in CA, cops can give you a $500 ticket for "modified emissions system" (I know, because it happened to me for an intake). Something to consider if you live in CA. A red or blue hose (even a shiny black hose) can cost you a lot of money and trouble.

That's crazy. Cops can ticket you for having a modified intake system? What if it has an emission sticker like K&N SRI?

There is a link or two in the TMIC section of the manifesto about 08+ Sti I/C on 02-07. If you are going to run it with the td04 you will run into a problem with the wg actuator. If running with a vf you will only need to do some minor mounting mods.

So people looking to do this, I am in the process of doing this on my 2004 Wrx. I thought it was going to be as simple as buying the tmic from my buddy and slapping it on, well its not.

Heres how much I am in to it already:

2005 STI TMIC with ypipe: $120
HPS 4-ply 2" (51mm) 90 Degree Elbow Coupler Silicone Hose: $31.92
HPS 4-Ply Reinforced 2 3/4" (70mm) Straight Silicone Hose: $10.62
STi Hood Scoop Air Splitter 2004-2005 (90817FE200): $87.27
STi Hood Scoop - 2004-2005 Model (90821FE080NN): $118.91
STi Scoop Duct / Bellows 2004-2005 (90817FE210): $37.34
NAPA 01G Aerosol Color Match Paint 1 Stage: $25.99

Shipping: $103.52
Shipping: $38.72
(My shipping is so high because I am getting a pro tune this saturday and needed everything before then)

Well, you could get a y-pipe kit from ebay for around $40. I have one on my car with an 04-07 STI TMIC hooked up to a VF23.

The bellows and TMIC splitter cost me $75 shipped, good deals on them here on the forums can be found every so often.

^ this is part of the reason why I just went fmic. Everyone always says fmics are so expensive and pricey when compared to tmic.

Tmic costs add up. Scoop, splitter, heatwrap/turbo blanket(optional) plus the cost of the tmic itself, from what I've seen , when it adds up just isn't cost effective.

Used name brand fmic setups are going for +- 500 bucks. I got my txs for a record steal of $380 bucks, granted I had to repaint the piping but still.

But hey more power to you, not everybody runs it properly. I know I didn't when I had my sti tmic!

Yea man, I was looking at FMIC but its more attention I dont want. At least now I will have the STI scoop and in the future I will be able to go with a nice big TMIC for an sti and already have the all the parts there for it. So yea the upfront cost was high but at least I know it will be done run and functional.

Couldof been alot worse, you got the tmic for a steal! So props for that. The numbers begin to not make sense when somebody buys a $300 one. And yeah I wish I could rock the sti scoop! IMO it looks fantastic. But I have a bugeye :/ just looks strange with one.
