Why so long a wait? Subarus are incredibly popular in western NC, I'm really surprised that a dealer wouldnt be able to find one for you.

I've owned a 03 WRX for over 6 years and was looking for something new a few months ago. Like you I was considering a G35/37. I thought I wanted something different than a WRX. I went and test drove a 2010 G37s and was extremely disappointed. I really thought I would like it, but the acceleration was dissatisfying and the seats made me feel cramped. I then went and test drove a 09 WRX and as soon as I hit the gas, I knew this is what I wanted. I couldn't help but smile as I hit the highway. I placed an order for a 2013 shortly after and I'm 100% confident it was the right choice.

Agreed. I've had 2 Infinitis and neither ever gave me any sort of maintenance issue. Maintenance IS more expensive than on a cheaper car in that it costs more to do the same service, but these cars are super reliable and all you'll do is change the oil and rotate the tires for the first 100,000 miles.
