Try PM'ing a vendor on here, maybe they can point you in the right direction. Have your wallet ready though.

Default Exhaust upgrade

So...has anyone have some input into the best exhaust upgrade for the NA 2.5 Imps? Is it worth the time or money? Personally I'm not so sure...I tend to agree with the thought that if you want power, get a WRX, STi, XT or GT.

Best exhaust upgrade is the one that sounds best to you. You will gain nothing from any amount of money you throw at it.

Just for the argument
So you're saying 3.5" pipe is no better than stock sized pipe?

No to mention possible removal of catalytic converters...

You will likely lose power doing that.

The characteristics of any aftermarket exhaust will get you a much louder sound than the stock exhaust but at the cost of LOW END power. which a lot of people here have failed to mention. I forget exactly where the power started to actually kick in but i think it was somewhere around 4k rpm. Don't quote me on that. But since most people don't drive around at over 4k giving their car the full beans all the time, it just ends up slower.

And since you're new, i might as well tell you about intakes too. Short answer... Don't get one.
Long answer, they will once again rob you of low end power because your car is not tuned from the factory to have a larger intake. It causes a very rich low end condition to occur and will give you a tiny bit of bogging down as you start off up to about 2k rpm if i remember correctly. Which in a daily driver is once again, highly undesirable. It will give you more power up top, but honestly, whose ever going to care about 5hp (at the most) at 5000 rpm. Nobody that's who.

Put your money into your STI and leave the other one be. If you really want to upgrade it. get some some suspension work done. But thats another story and im just going to point you to the suspension forum for those answers.

My opinion: get an axleback of your choice... any WRX one. Have a shop weld the flange or your midpipe for it. Win. Done.

If you want the rumble, get the eBay UEL headers. With 2.5i's, this will not work with the stock cat, so you'll have to have something welded up there, or get a pre-2.5i NA catpipe.

this.

don't get unequal length headers for the sake of it sounding like a wrx.

If you have an STi why would you want to waste your money on the commuter 2.5i. It's nice going from my rumbling stage two wrx to my fiancées base Sentra ( quiet smooth comfy). I'm not going to put an exhaust system on that lol

It's going to require an entire re-work on the unit to make it fit, so much so that the only thing you might be able to use is the flanges and a few inches of pipe. As far as your car is concerned, those are about as good as scrap metal. You might as well have just smashed your Xbox with a sledgehammer and thrown it in the trash.

Seriously. You should buy parts made to fit your car. If you can't build a custom header from scratch, you won't be able to modify those to fit.

As much as it will cost to custom fit that wrx header you'll have spent more than the price of rallisports direct bolt on header.
