Default Spring compressor needed?

Im going to be installing some coilovers and I was wondering if the front and rears require a spring compressor before removal.

It looks like the fronts will, but not sure about the rears.

Any help will be great.

EDIT: for a 2012 WRX hatch.

The fronts would if you are taking off the tophats, but removing the whole strut as one piece, you wouldn't. It's a mcpherson strut right?

The rears, I'm not familiar with, if it's a full strut or a spring and separate shock. But I doubt you need any.

easy way to check is once the strut is off the car see if you can compress the spring by hand enough that it breaks contact with the strut top, if yes then they are not going to be compressed enough to worry about using spring compressors.

It's really dangerous if you've never done it before using a spring compressor.... Don't try and take the top hats off without first compressing the spring unless you want to look like a pirate losing an eye or a tooth

No you don't need spring compressors to take the struts off the car, the rears you will need to unbolt the lower control arm to remove the shock/spring setup

I installed the Eibach pro kit on my 2011 sedan and needed a spring compressor. I was unable to tread the top nut without it. Added a good 15 minutes to each corner. If you have a helper maybe he can press down on the top hat while you tread the nut.
