Default My 2013 WRX is on a boat?

Long time member... My 02 WRX finally is being laid to rest at 236,000 miles.

So it's time for a new one. I bought a 2013 from a dealership on an order that someone else walked away from. They told me it was already shipped, but they couldn't tell me when it would arrive in port or when the dealership would actually receive the car. I find this very unsettling since I am with out a car until the new one comes in. They also could not tell me the vin#. They said they had one but there were too many 0s in the number and it wasn't accurate. They said once it reaches port the vins are confirmed? If this car exists, shouldn't it have a vin?

Is this common practice among dealerships? I don't know the logistics behind how cars are imported, but I figure it should be easy to track new orders. Am I wrong to think this?

Any insight or help from members would be great.

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I do know is it will come into Davisville, RI....

If you are in need of a replacement car *today*, you really should be buying off the lot. Anything a dealer tells you about when a car will arrive should not be taken too seriously, and you could be in for delays for days or weeks. You can buy through Costco's car program and get a very solid price from in stock inventory.

BTW, good work with the MY02, I'm trying to buy a MY03 with 196k right now. What finished yours off?

Fender-bender on an off ramp. Thing ran like a tank. Never had a problem with it. Couple of sets of tires, couple of timing belts, new clutch, breaks and oil.. All standard maintenance stuff... Damage was ~$4000 (mostly cosmetic, a new radiator, hood and AC unit) which was more than I wanted to put into it. I was trying to hold off for a 2014... I want to see that secret electric-turbo rumor and the redesign.

Anyway thanks for the post. I suppose it's my own fault for buying an in-transit car- I don't really "need" it for I can work from home for a while. But I really wanted "white" and since I'm probably going to driving this for 10 years, did not want to settle for black/silver.

Gary posted a couple weeks ago that they have a white 5 door, might be what you're looking for? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...800255&page=15

Anyway, good luck. My MY11 was supposed to take 6-8 weeks and a virtually identical one showed up after three weeks, so anything can happen.

I'll check it out, Thanks. I don't mind going up to Manchester for it.

I hope to be more active in the future.

I believe that once they arrive in port they aren't shipped right out too, they have to sit for a week or 2 to get cleared and stuff.

Mine arrived at the port on the 24th, and was ready for me to pick up today.

When I bought my 11' I ordered mid September, dealer said it would take up to 3 months as most cars were being taken out west and junk...two weeks later they called and said the car was there. Similar issue with the Nissan, was going to take a month since there was none in Mass with what I wanted...three days later they had one from Springfield area so IDK what dealers think when they give time frames.

It's safer to give a longer estimated time so if it shows earlier they look like pornstars.

My car just came in.

Anyone recommend a good place to tint around the Rt3/495 intersection?
