I have been anywhere from 3 to 7000k between changes...
I have never noticed any loss of oil whatsoever in using dyno or synth.... It always stays exactly at the same level on the dipstick.....and thats for 41k miles now...go figure... And i have never driven my car any other way but FAST ![]()

Around 10-15K....
Used to be M1 0w-40 until that changed, now Shell Rotella T6 5w-40. I have to add a quart every thousand or so (prob. need a turbo rebuild), but so far so good. Make sure you have very high quality filters if you go this route... Livin' on the edge ![]() |

8-10k with labs. No adding. RT6/ purolator filter. Every motor is different. Do your own research...or dont.

I generally burn/leak so much oil that I only ever need to fill the car. It changes itself automatically. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.

I think anyone who changes every 3K without having their oil analyzed is wasting money. Blackstone charges $30 to do an analysis. Just pull a sample every 3K and have it analyzed. I think most will find they can go up to a year between changes if they're using a good synthetic.

At 3k I start thinking about it, and it's done somewhere between there and 4k every time. Sure the oil likely has some more life, but they recycle it nowadays at least and that's not a whole lot of miles from what's recommended by the MFG. Having said that I will also occasionally get a UOA from Blackstone, but it's a health check. |
