Its a gravity bike. DH only pretty much. I had a Kona Garbonzo but its pretty much wore out. So I built one from the ground up.
Marin Quake Team DH Frame (200mm travel) 2003 Fully Rebuilt Marazocchi Shiver DC (inverted 190mm travel) Custom Wheels: Spike White Spank AL40mm rims Novatek Hubs (Blue) 1/2 blue spokes w/ black nipples 1/2 black spokes w/ blue nipples (all 14g) Duro 26x3" Tires w/ Kenda 2.35mm thick DH Tubes Hayes Nine Brakes (9" front rotor/ 8" rear) Funn Blue DH Bars Funn Blue Seat Post DA Bomb BMX Saddle Raceface Black Atlas Stem Raceface Blue Atlas FR Crank w/ 36t Single Chainring Raceface HD BB FSA Big Fat Pig 1.5"-1 1/8" Headset MDB Chain Guide Shimano Saint Rear Derailleur Shimano Saint Rear Shifter Shimano Close Ratio Gear Set 14t-25t (9-speed) I could snap a pic of it if anyones interested but as much work goes into everything I build including bikes lol. Thing is so smooth and quite because the chain cant hit the frame. Looks small because of the tires though they are as big as the frame will allow... |

Heres some pics of my bike. I did everything including lacing the wheels. It was a lot of fun. I have build bikes before but never from the ground up like this one should be a perfect fit for me for years to come.

Kinda... The engine is out and the heads are getting the intake runners gasket matched and the new cams shimmed. The new block is waiting for the heads so I can put the engine back together. Currently the foz is kinda on the back burner while I get a couple other jobs going I've got going to help pay for the last few installments of parts and powdercoating get going. Once the Engine gets back and the rest of suspension and engine bits are powdercoated I'll finish her up but she probubly won't get tuned till Feb of next year... Cold weather and snowboarding are coming up so I'd like to take a bit more time off from the shop bewcause I've worked every winter after work late and weekends for 7 years in a row and I want to take a bit of a break this year. I'll still be in there planty but my bigger winter job is going to take most of the time I'll be out there and there will be a build thread for that getting started in a couple weeks. I am going to put the Foz around back of the shop covered up so I can work on it when the weather is good because the only thing thats really left is the wiring and I can do all of that inside the house.
I'll have some updates in a few weeks once I get the engine back together and everything is powdercoated. I am going to be adding a couple things I was on the fence about so there are a couple more bits I need to order. Johann |

Hey all. Sorry for the delay but I have been waiting for some crap to come back to me. I'll be picking up my new shimmed heads sometime next week so I'll be able to start putting the long block together. I am going to gasket match and polish the intake runners before I install them so that will be fun.. The rest of the parts going to powder are leaving in a couple weeks to get done so I'll finally be able to start doing some final re-assembly on her.
Stay tuned.. Johann |

Johann, I'm surprised it took me this long to see this thread, but I see that you've moved on to yet another crazy project. I'm looking forward to updates on this one, as it looks crazy already.

Well.. I was going to pick up the heads a while back but decided to wait till the other motor for a different job I am trying to finish up came in so I could pick everything up at once. That time has finally come and I should be getting everything this weekend. I am taking next week off to finish the other car so I can start getting the motor and everything for the Foz back on track. Made up a list of parts and things needed to do to finish it and I realized im a lot closer then I thouht...
Updates as soon as the heads come in! |

Due to many many excuses and issues my heads are still not done. The project is dead in the water till I get them back. The irritation is palpable...

Yeah I am too. Its killing me just starring at it. I have been doing a couple things to her but nothing worth mentioning. Regardless if the heads are here I will be dropping off the engine bits for powder the powder I ordered is finally in so at least I'll have some pretty colored parts to show you in a few weeks... I should be getting my heads back soon but I have been saying that for a while now so....
I am building a new downhill bike to hold myself over if these heads take any longer I might just have to post its build in here to keep peoples interest.... lol Johann |
