Not even a full 72 hours after I bought the car, it lost oil pressure, the idiot light came on, and $6,000 later, I have a new engine in my car. In the state of Georgia, the Lemon Law does not protect used cars at all. All I can do is have a lawyer send a letter of intent to sue and hope for the best. Other than that, I'm pretty much stuck with fixing it.

That's bad luck.
Ouch that sucks man. If I were ever to buy a used Subaru I'd 100% make sure I had a safety net of 5-10k for a new block whenever it chooses to act up. It could last for 100k or it could crack a ringland at 1k, that's whats so scary.

OP i feel your pain.
our car got hit by a drunk driver going 60mph while we were stopped, car totaled
2 months later I go down stairs my car someone smashed in the entire driver side and the front of the car, $7k and 2 weeks later car is parked again, someone smashes into it again. I traded it in for a new one and am currently praying no more car issues for the rest of my life. As for insurance I keep my deductible at 150 collision 100 comprehensive definitely worth it imho

I bought a wrx last year and tuned it, then rolled it. So i bought another and blew the motor, so I took the motor out of the rolled one and blew that. Then I got a parts car with 58k on it and put that engine in then blew that one while tuning( turned rpm up to high). So I built a stroker and the machine shop messed up the bore. Then I put a new crank and bearings in the 56k motor and it lost a cam seal so it lost all of it's oil. Now I am running on a new stroker. 6 engines, 5 turbo's, 5 tunes, 1 year. Bad luck not me maybe you.

Lol. I can agree to this so much. Bought my car 3 months before I got my license, taught myself stick more, got my license, 2 weeks on the road, clutch blew, started misfiring, and other stuff I don't remember off the top and of course got @$$ r@ped by a bs mechanic.. $1500 later.. Then. About 2 weeks later, The good ol cylinder (I forgot which #) started misfiring again, brought it back, mechanic said it was because I don't know how to drive stick? (yea idk, he's retarded) . He left it in first Gear with no e brake. My stepfather hit remote start with expecting it in neutral and e brake up, car launches into a pole. $1700 later... Let my friend drive, lose control going 100mph into a gate, tire popped.. New fender, bumper, 2 doors. That was in April, and I'm still finishing up body work (moving very slowwww) and still want to hold onto it.. And I mean.. 1500+, then another 1700+ on top of the 1500 the time after, then again between all the $ for bondo and all, then going Cobb stage 2, damn money pits lol

Wait... what? You have a car with a manual transmission and remote starter? Why in the heck would you EVER think that was a good idea? I really hope you had to pay all of that $1700 out of pocket. That's one lesson you apparently needed to learn.

I bought the car with the remote start on it from the pervious owner.. U serious? I would be in my house with my keys in my pocket and would hear it start up.. The previous owner got it installed and bypassed it.. I absolutely hate remote start

You do realize that an STi is still a WRX?

Yes, never buy enthusiast used turbo vehicles.

Default wrx

I bought a wrx in 2009. I do routine maintanence and let it warm up. I hit the rev limiter often when i'm at the autocross and I haven't had a problem with the car since I bought it. you are fyucked.

Did you buy a previously modded, used one? Or has it been one owner, new?

You know, just to compare oranges to oranges here. Not oranges to left foot slippers.

Chalk this up to owners ignorance. Buying modded cars in the used market is a bad idea unless you know the reputation and quality of care. I'm also willing to be that he bought used turbos, because they were cheap, and which were almost already on the way out too. That's the only way I can think of blowing 4 of them in a short timeframe.

The oil line? Yeah, that moves a lot when replacing turbos.

Yea, I know. Same situation. I wouldn't buy any used Subaru that's turbo'd. At least not right now/this generation. Too many potential issues.
