Default 2014 Audi RS6 Avant

Powered by a 552HP Bi-Turbo V8

OMG!!

Carscoop:http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2012/12...Avant-New.html

Quote:
Ingolstadt's station wagon from hell is back with a vengeance. We're talking, of course, about the new generation of the Audi RS6 Avant, the first pictures and preliminary specifications of which hit the interwebs today.
From what we're told by our Russian comrades at Autowp, the new RS6 Avant waves goodbye to the previous model's 571hp (579PS) and 650Nm (479 lbf·ft) 5.0-liter bi-turbo V10 and gains Audi's brand new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 TFSI engine, which is said to deliver 552hp (560PS) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) in this application.

An eight-speed automatic drives all four wheels through Audi's quattro system with a sport differential. The Über station wagon is claimed to go from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in just 3.9 seconds and top out at 304km/h (189mph), all while being able to fit up to 1,680 liters of goods.

By comparison, the older V10-powered RS6 Avant, completed the sprint in 4.6 seconds and had a de-restricted top speed of 274 km/h (170mph).

The design of the flagship model of the A6 series is exactly what you would expect from any member of the Audi RS family with blistered wheel arches, honeycomb inserts on the upper and lower front grilles that work together with a redesigned bumper, side skirts and a wide rear diffuser with large pipes on either side.

The RS6 Avant also gets a silver finish on the mirrors and the roof rails, a roof spoiler, larger alloy wheels shod in performance tires, and just to make sure you won't confuse it with another A6 model upon seeing it on your rear view mirror, a sizeable "quattro" logo enclosed in a silver frame on the front grille.

Inside, Audi has adorned the RS6 with all the usual bits and pieces such as a flat-bottom steering wheel, red needles on the revamped instrument panel gauges, tons of carbon fiber trims, and sports seats in a mix of leather and Alcantara.

We still don't know if Audi will introduce the new RS6 Avant in Detroit next month, or more likely, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Soo hot....but we won't get it.

One complaint, why did they have to put "quattro" in giant letters below the front grille? Looks terrible to me.

Outside styling is pretty nice. Inside?
Its still a VAG product either way.

Yeah, I don't understand how that slipped through the design process. Looks tacky and straight up bad, not like Audi at all.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the patterns on the seats or the dash trim. They have a similar deal in the new S6 but there's an option for "comfort" seats that are more traditional.

What's wrong with it being a VAG product? Anyone who buys this has enough money to replace every part on it twice. This isn't a car for the 99%.

A distinctive feature of the front-end styling is a ‘split’ grille. The grille’s lower portion is dominated by a 3D ‘quattro’ script, which may appear on more Audi models in future.

I actually like the Quattro 'in your face' styling. I think Audi's were getting a bit too conservative, and some flair when it highlights proprietary technology is awesome.

In other words, if you got it flaunt it.

I would give just about anything to own that car.

The interior is identical to the S6 and it is gorgeous there as well. I actually love the look and feel of the quilted leather. Very classy.

estoril blue crystal plus the lunar silver leather = win

Maybe I am just silly, but shouldn't this car follow the trend of having a nice large LCD somewhere in the dash for the navi, tech toys, etc? The little screen in between those beautiful gages seems inadequate for a navi stereo function.

2013

Just the Facts:
  • "We have no plans for that vehicle," says an Audi of America spokesman of the redesigned RS 6 Avant.
  • The new RS 6 Avant swaps its predecessor's naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 for a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.
  • The latest edition is faster — and more frugal.

Audi is the design leader, not a follower. Watch this become a trend.

Edit: As Wildnuts points out below, there is a pop-up screen over the vents. The RS6 photo shows the cutout of the pop-up in "down" position.

It looks like there is a larger LCD that may be motorized located behind the center HVAC vents. I thought they had this feature on their larger cars, A8, S8 etc.

Quite possibly the only VAG product I'd consider owning after finishing a bottle of Scotch in one sitting. And that's saying something.

Perfect use of emoticons, mirroring my exact sentiment.

The carbon is a bit much, though I assume it's real so that's a wow. And then it'll disintegrate if you actually drive it but that shouldn't be a problem for the people that can actually afford one.

Also it would never come to the US even if Obama placed sanctions on Germany.

So nice, not that I could afford it anyway even if they were to bring it here.
