Hey all,
I am in the concord area. Anyone around here with an 08+ sti or wrx running the aem or Cobb intake? I'd like to hear it and get your impression on the parts. Debating on it being the next upgrade on my '13 STI. Thanks!

Are you only interested in the sound? There really isn't any significant horsepower increase on a stock motor with a CAI. I think your money is better spent elsewhere. Unless sound is important to you, then cool, go for it.
BTW I love Cobb products, I have an access port, turboback exhaust and a few other items that have given me big horsepower gains. |

Ideally, yes, a power bump would be ideal...but a bit of noise would be helpful as well.
When I drive spirited or when I do track days (none on this car yet), I drive (shift) by ear and not by the tach. I have discovered that my sti, even with the q300 cat back is really quiet and hard to tell exactly what the motor is doing by ear. I hope that makes sense. But I don't want something that is annoying Loud all the time. |

If you haven't pulled the trigger and happen to be in the south bay.. I have an AEM, invidia catted dp and a cobb OTS stage 2 map. HP gains with the AEM are minimal, slight noise gain but not much. I ran stage 1 without the AEM for about 3-4K miles before installing the AEM. You do get slightly more engine feedback, but most of the noise increase is after a shift/release of throttle.

I have a K&N drop in replacement that saw less than 1K miles if you decide against the CAI.

Im looking for a few guys in the orinda area who are interested for a small subi meet. |
