Default GOLD Foil Application Thread (Silver also acceptable)

I have been looking into using some reflective/insulated foils and have learned to love the look. It looks to be a good way to reduce IAT's as well as protect certain areas that may be prone to damage from heat. It may look cheesy but if it works, I am down, but you definitely have to use the better products to take advantage of their insulation/reflective traits.

I am curious who has used it and how it has worked, plus post pictures to show how and where you have used it.

I used the silver to wrap all the sides of my old STI tmic and Y-pipe .

The turbo side seemed to stay much cooler to the touch after spirited driving.

No real numbers to back it up, but the hand warmth test showed some differences between wrapped and not.

No real pictures, use your imagination, just a really shiny tmic.

I also use the tape to keep the exhaust on my ATV from melting plastic parts, to keep heating lamps for critter cages from melting stuff, fix leaks in AC vents. I find it to be quite useful.

I can definitely say the heat reflective tape works in a lot of situations, hell I made a patch out of like 5 layers to cover a hole in a mid pipe, held for the better part of 6 months and was hell to get off in the end.

I would love to see someone do some data logs before and after.

I taped my firewall near the turbo as my ecu is really close there and it was cooking inside (firewall insulation mat gone)
