As awesome as that is, I'd rather spend $300 less and get a tactrix, considering you can do a lot more with it. Call me crazy :S

I don't think you get the point

You don't buy the Dash Display for it's logging capabilities, you buy it to display the ecu's information.

If you are looking at buying such a display and are interested with your WGDC's and Total timing, you probably already have a tactrix.

This replaces countless guages.

I have a speed density setup, And have displayed the VE, SD load, Intake temps, Wideband, boost, gear, and fuel error %. On one of the screens.

Here's an old pic. At that stage it was still work in progress.

Long term fuel trims on the fly ? ( good tool for us SD boys, or ppl trying to scale a MAF )

( I just flashed a map, IAM15 is normal, don't worry

)

DTC's, oil pressure, egt's, logger, whatever.

Look, I don't build, profit, or benefit from what I'm saying. Everyone has guages. Noone has dash displays.

I'm just starting to get into the whole tuning thing, so thanks for clearing that up! Makes a lot of sense, and if I had the money, I would absolutely do this. Automatic baller status.

Yes, and the idea behind this, is it lets you visualise what is happening.

I think this thread has been derailed enough. I think this should be taken to another thread as this one was originally made for SD logging. If this is such a hot topic, start another thread and people can inquire there.

I'm totally going to build that gauge for my capstone project next semester.

Anyway back on topic, is the sampling rate of SD logging significantly slower in comparison to normal logging?

You got it reversed. SD logging is significantly faster than normal logging. The sampling rate is still tied to the number of parameters but it is MUCH faster. To give you an idea, I am collecting 15 counters and I get about 35 samples per second, where 1 of the counters requires extensive calculations (those slow it down). So, I am running slower than normal 15 counters would. Normal logging can't touch that kind of rate.

Sweet. I'm so glad I found out about this haha. I have mine set up to start logging during throttle opening angle above 60% and if there is any knock above 2000 rpm. It stops logging when rpms drop below 2k. Such a neat tool!

The OpenPort only draws around 60 milliamps so it shouldn't be a problem to leave in for long periods of time.
