What I'm saying is that the only thing they really do is "increase stability," which is actually just slowing the steering down. Everybody doesn't hit, or maintain high speeds on their bike. Around here, unless you're on a literal hand full of descending, gently winding, smooth trails, you're not going to exceed 20mph for more than a few seconds at a time. What you're going to do more often (around here) is lower speed work where you don't want slow steering. |

question about rear jockey wheels or "G-Pulley" from Shimano. it was my first time taking the chain off my road bike and i was going over the all the spinning parts to see if they are still good. i noticed the jockey wheels closest to the cassette in the rear derailer is pretty stiff and doesnt spin smoothly and freely as the other jockey wheel. i instantly thought it was bad and pulled it off thinking ill get a new one tomorrow.
while i had it off, i thought i might as well clean it up. so i started taking it apart noticed that there isnt really anything "bad" about it. i think by design it was suppose to be this stiff. reading more about it online and it seems like its normal. now im thinking...should i just leave it, or switch to aftermarket ones and get a ceramic ball bearing? any recommendations? |

They should spin pretty freely, any drag in the drivetrain is going to cost horsepower to overcome, and that comes from your legs.
I'd clean the bearing out and reassemble and see what it's like then. |

Lots of nice bikes in OT.
Also, why do presta valves have to be so flimsy? Ugh. Was swapping out my rear tire and tube... everything going smoothly until I remove the pump from the valve and snap it in half. Awesome! My hands were cold and I was getting antsy to go for a brisk ride, but still. I ended up playing basketball at a gym. F it. |

I have never once had a problem with presta valves, also, it'd be kind of hard to fit a schraeder valve on a skinny roadie tube.

I've never broken a Presta valve. I've bent several, but never broken. They still work bent.
Presta is a one way valve when you are adding air. Schraders lose air when you attach and detach the pump. Plus, Prestas can be set up for tubeless where you can remove the valve stem easily and add Stans or similar sealant when it starts to dry up. Prevents you from having to break the bead to add the sealant. |

edit: Apparently Stans makes a combo tool that removes both cores. I guess there is enough space. |

If you guys had the choice between a 2003 Cervelo P2K or a 2009 Felt S32 both for the same price, which one would you go for??
I'm leaning more towards the Felt. |

He uses Stan's with presta tubes with removable cores too, he thought that schraeders wouldn't have enough room. If anything, there's more room with the valve core removed with a schraeder than a presta,

What are these tubes you speak of? Tubeless FTW.

Yup, I am. I can't fathom having to run tubes again. I got a thorn through my sidewall the other day and I just laid the bike on its side with the hole side down and pumped air in. The flat was fixed in just a few seconds.
