Hi guys,
I am not sure that this is the right thread to ask my question but I didn't want to start a new one. I have a 06 sti with cobb turbo back exhaust / stage 2 mapping. I kept getting cyl 4 misfire code, so I have changed the plugs and swapped the cyl 2&4 ignition coils, hoping it was an ignition problem. It wasn't. The code remained cyl 4 misfire, so I took the car to the dealership. Shortly the result was bad compression in the cylinder. Probably will need new piston (at least) or even new short block. My question is if I should stick to the stock pistons or - since I already have to sell my house to have it fixed - get something stronger instead. Shouldn't the stock engine be able to handle such limited mods? I wasn't murdering the car at all and have 75k on it. Opinions? Recommendations?
Thanks!
Adam

My car is happy with the OTS tune an dmy DAM has been sitting at 16 since I cleaned my MAF
Protune to come.
So this pretty much sums it up....
Since you ignored the mod list that Cobb told you use you went ahead and used your own mods on their ots maps and your car runs fine?
Im confused because people say that you have to use cobbs stuff in order for to feel a diff.
I wanna get an Ap but I don't have no perf. Parts from Cobb and I wanna use
My mod list (uel headers, up,down, kn cai, cbe) and wanna use the stage x ots maps

Fill out your profile.
Then read Unabomber's Manifesto and other stickies.

Hint:
Catless downpipe and/or turbo back exhaust.
Protune on a dyno. Don't bother with an Accessport.

Regarding the SPT intake and Stage 1:

I emailed Cobb about this and Steven said the SPT intake can negatively effect the performance of the car with Stage 1.

Is this true?
Would one of the CAI maps work with this intake?

Thanks!

Well I guess if cobb says it then it must be true...it is THEIR map. Though I have heard differently from cobb Plano...yea...I still hate that facility.

Truf!

COBB OTS maps for 08-11 WRX currently support stock, COBB SF and AEM intakes.... all three are designed way differently than the SPT one.

When it says you can use a k&n filter , is that just the panel filter or will a k&n intake work?

Default 2011 wrx stage 2 catless

Hi
What would you suggest for a OTS Map (Cobb) for a 2011 WRX going stage 2 catless, stock exhaust and air box.
Im not really wanting a pro tune as of yet, possibly down the road after I decide if the DP gives what Im looking for(haha)

Hi there. No EWG set up is compatible with any of our stage 3 (or other maps). You will need a custom tune for the AccessPORT in that case.

You can get a custom tune from a professional tuner for pretty much any modifications. You can check out our dealer's list here:

I live in a mountain area and on any given weekend I could be between sea level, 4000 or 8000 ft elevation. I am looking to get the AP soon and was wondering if it would matter if I would be recommended to change maps based on on elevation? Only reason I ask is my last car (Turbonetics TC) ran great at 4000 but the first time I took it down to sea level it popped... Bad!! Left a trail of metal on the road bad lol. So forgive me for being a little gun shy.

Just put on a Invidia highflow cat downpipe and Borla exhaust with a K&N filter. Running Cobb stage 2 right now with no problems. I do feel like I'm leaving a bit on the table so will certainly be going for a custom tune on the dyno to get a bit of improvement in overall performance.

Hey! Just a simple question...when installing stage 1 or 2 cobb app, does it changes your top speed and max rpm?

As far as my experiences with the AP and the MASSIVE amounts of research I've done to understand the Logs generated from the AP. I have never come across any info about it altering REV limits or top speed. I will confidently say no it does not.

Quick question about the stage 2 tune:

I just have a downpipe, uppipe and drop in filter, is that enough for the stage 2 tune?

From what I've read I should be fine, i would obviously have a bit less power without a full catback but I don't mind. I wan't to keep the stock exhaust on.
