Serious question: Are the real STI ones forged? Assuming Subaru or STI did a reasonable amount of engineering to make those wheels strong/light, unless the cast replica is beefier (thicker spokes) I would think there is a reliability/strength issue.

Just curious, and for all I know the STI wheels are cast too, does anyone know off-hand?

The original STI wheels are CAST as well, per Japanparts.com:

Quote:
Light weight & high rigid cast alloy wheels.
15 straight spokes.
Size: 17 x 7.5J, +48mm, PCD100mm, 5holes. Available color: PT Silver, Dark Gray, Black

PN:ST28100MF050,ST28100MF060,ST28100MF080
And per sti.jp:

Quote:
By using the spinning method for molding of the rim, it is a cast aluminum wheel with light weight and high rigidity.
However, given that the 17x7.5 are about 18lbs, we assume that 18x7.5 are about 20lbs.

I do wonder what these guys figured out that STI couldn't/wouldn't... However, for the character of the car, I can totally see STI saying that 17 or 18x7.5 is more suitable for this car, with the +48 offset. *shrug*

I sorry.

$1,011.53 for a set pre-sale.

$1,213.84 for a set normally.

Both are USD converted from $1,000 CAD and $1,200 CAD.

Shipping was quoted $180-$200 to Washington, so definitely incentive to buy pre-sale.

Actually we never said it was a different bushing. We have a separate part number so it comes specific instructions, but no we never said it was a totally different part. No biggie though.

I asked if it was a new part, then I asked if it was the same bushing as used in other Subaru models. Don't really care, but don't tell me I'm lying.

On a different note: my intake tube looks good though I'll probably wash the inside with soap and water. The warning sticker...is that serious or just a funny touch?

The warning sticker is just something that we make so everyone's aware of what aftermarket parts will do to their car. It's recommended they can stick it to their windshield so they are reminded every time thy drive their car.

Oh yeah! It's been removed. I was looking through their stuff after your post today and couldn't find it, though I thought I recalled a discussion of it recently... I guess they took it back to the drawing boards?

Not really released yet I think. Not sure why they sold me one! The page was still up as of last night, though it was NEVER listed under their FR-S/BRZ directory.

I really like the leather STi knob, but at over $200 once you include shipping, that's a pretty hefty price tag.

I'd want to know the weight before I shelled out. WC Lathewerks knobs can get expensive once you option them out, which is why I'd even consider the STI knob with leather.

Very true. As look more though, I kind of wish they weren't perforated. Doesn't really go with anything else in the interior. I think it would have been nicer with textured leather, and a double red stitching...not asking the for the world or anything lol.
