It is indeed a part of my security system When locking the car, these sensors serve as trigger in case someone breaks into the car. Good system but the sensors are misplaced imo.
If someone wants to know, the alarm is a Sigma M30. Since the Subaru was a fast getaway car for criminals, insurance companies wouldn't want to insure a Subaru any more unless it was equiped with a decent security system.

added the OEM fogs to my 2011 today, but decided to mold some black mesh onto the backside of the fog bezel to protect the lights and somewhat hide them.

They're called USB extenders, or USB male to female cords. I have on in my wrx that is setup exactly the same, except it's one port instead of 2.

I does provide 2.5 amps max though

Definitely want to protect those fogs, I'd do a vinyl overlay even if it's just clear. I was going to buy a set until every used WRX I saw at the dealer with fogs had at least one busted.

Got the STI center console installed in my WRX, but had to fill in the SI drive gap somehow...ended up buying an iPod touch for $20 on craigslist to act as a media server:

Auto lock set to never, so the screen is on throughout the entire car ride. Jailbroke it so that it'll autolock the screen when it's no longer getting power, and autounlock the screen when it receives power from the HU.

I like this. I am in the middle of doing an STI console swap into my WRX and was trying to decide what to do with that space. I might be PMing you about this in the near future. Good work.

Thank you sir. It was not too hard to do, only took me about 3 hours. 2.8 of which was cleaning the disgusting gunk that were in the cupholders from whoever owned the car that it was in.

im really interested in doing this as well, any photos of how you mounted the ipod?

No photos of the work in progress, but right now it's simply pressed against the opening by duct tape. You'll want to cover the excess gap somehow, either by bondo + painting, or by some kind of wrap. Mine's covered in alcantara, so it blends with the rest of the interior. I'll grab a better pic tomorrow.

I went with the 05 Legacy center console, which aligns properly with the WRX shifter trim. Instead of the SI drive, this console had the seat heater switches there. I took the switches out, disassembled them from the panel and filled the hole with some ABS and fiberglass resin to make it a smooth flat cover. Then I opened 2 holes to put switches on it.



I still don't have a use for the switches. I know one will be for the fogs I'll put behind the grille, but I still don't know what to use the second one for. I still need to do some more work on the panel. I just wrapped it in black vynil to put it in and cover the hole.

I got the STI center console since it was only $30 shipped, also because I'm using the STI shifter trim (LGT one will be too low and won't match up).

I get that. I went with the lgt because I didn't want the STi shfter trim.

Still need to install one of those mirror style screen protectors after I replace the screen.

If I used the LGT setup, I would have gotten the LGT coinholder to fill the gap and mounted the switches near/on the heatwarmer switches.
