Just break the bolts and replace them... not worth fighting with them.

Hey guys, I'm new to all the car stuff but I am willing to take a go on it. I got a JNA catback exhaust, cobb AP v2, and now trying to find a nice DP with good performance but also financially acceptable.
Now my question might be really stupid but again I am a noob. What is the diff between a catless DP and one with? Am I supposed to get a catless? And I'm afraid of this CEL error now. If I installed lets say a invidia catted DP, Cobb AP, and JnA catback exhaust. Will I have a CeL error? Thanks for hearing me out :/ -noobie |

You're "supposed" to get whatever you want. Catted will be slightly more restrictive and make a little less power, but it's also about 90% less illegal and has less risk of boost creep.
The stage 2 tune you load using the AP when you install the DP will eliminate the CEL regardless of whether you go catted or catless. |

If I have a custom tune on my catless downpipe , and I want to go catted (aftermarket) , would I need a re-tune?

Not enough to truly benefit from a retune from a tuner. And OTS maps cover catted and catless. |

There are about 5,000 "generic" DP's floating around. Depending on which one you have, it could be great. Overall it's just a pipe with welds, so as long as your welds are good, and no holes where a hole shouldn't be, you'll be just fine.

Hey guys, was looking for some help on this one... Installed my Invidia Catted DP today. Upon bolting it up to the tailpipe and torquing down, there was a gap left between the tailpipe and the downpipe. I added some thicker gaskets but I am still getting an exhaust leak. Any suggestions on an affordable fix? Any repercussions driving the car with the exhaust leak? Thanks!

Sorry for the ignorant question, but I must ask the following. Would the down pipe from a 08 WRX fit on my 02 WRX? I read somewhere that they are interchangeable. But I want this to be confirmed here. Thanks.

I finally have an exhaust leak after the turbo, so I'm going stage 2!
My problem: I'm environmentally conscious but am addicted to upgrades. My question: which downpipe has the largest, cleanest, greenest cat? My babble: I don't plan on going over 300 hp, so feel I can get away with a more restrictive cat. I would even be interested in a dual high flow setup if that's available, but any search I do comes up with very old results. Any info is appreciated, I've searched quite a bit and it's difficult to find the cat's ratings. I've read the smog thread on NASIOC, and the Maddad V2 gets the lowest smog numbers compared to other aftermarket setups that were posted, and I've already decided on his Whisper catback, and was about to get the V2 (300 cell cat btw), but those darn wastegate gasses won't be catted! How much exhaust is bypassed under boost anyway? If it's nominal, then maybe I will just go for the V2. Please, someone tell me it's nominal. I figured I'd ask these questions here before I started calling the manufacturer of every downpipe out there. |
