Ah yes, red clay everywhere.
I hit an armadillo with a '79 T/A years ago, and knocked one side of my dual exhaust off.

it's the truck drivers responsibility to pick up his shredded tires from the road, not all do.... but the few that do, we love you!

I feel bad for you, man. I've hit a very small piece of a gator in an Audi some years ago and it simply popped out one of the panels and scratched up the spoiler (non painted portion). A whole tire like that would total an Elise.
I have heard of worse. A guy I used to work with was behind a truck in Cal near 1000 Oaks in his 930 and a couch fall off the truck. He launched off the couch like he was Bo Duke. No body dammage to the car and he was able to drive it in to work. |

The process has improved dramatically over the years. They won't retread a tire if it is too old, they inspect and X-ray them for defects, and you can only retread one twice. Nowadays, a new tire is just as likely to go as a recap. Also, if they were "done away with," it would directly cost me upwards of $10k a year extra for one wear item. Smell what I'm cookin'? Same thing happened to me in my first car, it was lowered. Going 70, tailgaiting like an idiot, and I run over a massive rock. When I say massive, I mean it was so big that when I ran over it, I heard a KABOOOOOMMM and the car went airborn. Almost lost it into a guardrail. I also saw a bunch of stuff come flying out from under the car, but I pulled over and it was doing just fine LOL.

So, after digging deeper the down pipe is actually bent along with the busted catalytic converter. I contacted my insurance and they should be out either Monday or after xmas to give me an appraisal. Hopefully I can get enough to do the full TBE, AP and primitive plates.

had the same thing happen to me. i was cruising home one night, then BAM, hit something. i didnt even see it, but truck tire was the most likely culprit. shattered my front bumper and skid plate.
paid my deductible and had the bumper replaced, repainted, under tray replaced, and some other little things like brackets and clips. blessing in disguise though, my front bumper was pitted and chipped to hell from the terrible factory paint, repainted with better quality that has held up much better ![]() |

Primative skids are excellent. Gives you a chance to freshen up the exhaust too. You could have gotten out a lot worse.

Ok, it's been a while but here is what's been going on. I ended up making some changes but here is how she is now
Invidia 3" bell mouth DP Invidia G200 cat back CAI- K&N Typhoon Grimmspeed 3-port boost solenoid Copp AP Perrin Turbo blanket Innovate mtx-L wideband O2 Primitive plates skid tray with stinger tail and option for header spacers Primitive plates rear diff plate Pro tune from Torqued Performance Still waiting on my Perrin DP blanket to get here and I'm losing fuel pressure so I'll be ordering a Walbro this weekend. Also going to have an additional bung put in the DP for the WB 02 and put the stock one back in it's original bung. |
