Subaru RX (85-89), aka 3rd generation Leone.
![]() ![]() they're upwards of $350-$400, because they're relatively rare. The datsun folks love them too as they swap into datsun/nissan R160 diffs. (e.g. :http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&p=150468 http://forums.nicoclub.com/subaru-r1...o-t186165.html (copied from wiki) "The RX 3-door hatchback is comparatively rare as only 2600 units were made during its 1987 to 1989 production run. Very few remain operational today. It can be recognized by a rear wing, factory ground effects kit and white paint with white wheels. Most RXs were white. The RX was equipped with the EA82T turbo engine, as found in the XT Vortex mated to a five speed manual transmission. The drivetrain featured a 3.70:1 rear Limited Slip Differential as well as a locking center differential and two speed transfer case. The gearbox also featured a 1.592:1 low range activated via a center console mounted lever. Other characteristics were; rally tuned suspension, four wheel disc brakes, power windows, A/C, central locking, power sunroof, adjustable seats and steering wheel, split fold-down rear seats, full indicative panel, Hill Holder and 1,070 kg (2,359 lb) of weight. 1989 marked the end of the production run for the RX."

I've only ever seen one RX, and at first I was like WTF is this? Subaru? "Full time 4WD"? Coupe?!
Definitely a cool car though. |

You can run the Kings without a damper upgrade, but they work out a lot nicer with one. The increased rates on their own work the standard dampers out pretty well, toss in rough terrain and the job gets even tougher for them. Greg's set up was Feal inserts/shocks. In front you get a insert that installs into the stock strut body, and in the rear you get a complete new shock. The inserts are valved to match the increased rates of the kings, as well as for rough terrain (gravel valving). The new inserts are also damping adjustable now. Ride quality is excelletn on paved or unpaved roads as the Feal units are far superior performance wise to the standard dampers. As for Forester suspension, I think stuff off the 09+ Foresters might work, as it is similar to the 08+ Impreza suspension. We haven't tried it yet though, so I don't really know what all would be involved. With the Kings+Feal+spacer set up though, you get a lift as well as improved dampers. -Anthony |

Will 225/70-R15's fit a stock suspension 2012 WRX or are spacers going to be needed?

Thanks. I've been looking for a set of gravel tires I can use for daily driving as well. Any suggestions? Grabbers? Bridgestone? DMack? |

so...decided that in lieu of the snow storm coming i would ad some clearance to my car....
just on some ISC coil overs...wheels are stock S5 TII RX-7 16"ers and i have some adapters on there so they poke slightly...but otherwise there just 16x7's with 205/55 stock sized General Altimax Artics.. the sedan u see poking its ass in the pic will be lifted on some Fozzy suspension and maybe more that will have a better spec sheet for this thread after its running... ![]() before: (quick setting as i just got it running before hand...will end up lower though )![]() Now: ![]() |

No prob. I'd say Yokohama Geolanders. Smallest A/T tire I've found available. Unless someone else has found something that will work better.

Actual gravel tires will get burned up in no time on tarmac driving. So to be sure we're all on the same page..... All terrain (Geolander etc.....) Okay for road driving (designed for it in fact) Actual gravel tires ( Lassa, BFG Pirelli, Dmack etc....) Not okay for road driving ![]() The soft compound and sharp tread blocks make them awesome for dirt/gravel, but get super hot for road driving. You can trash a set of soft compounds real quick on tarmac driving. The harder compounds fair a little better, but still not advisable for daily driving by any means. -Anthony |
