Been on here for a while and have had my 2012 ice silver wrx for almost 5 months now so I thought I'd start a thread. This is my first car and I could not be happier with it. I have added several things to the car since I got it and I have many more plans for it.
Mods: Engine: Torqued Performance stage 1 Cobb sf intake + air box Nameless Performance axleback (muffler delete - 3.5" staggered double walled tips) Exterior: Tint (15% all around, except windshield) Rally armor mudflaps (red logo) Painted tailights red Here are some pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

On another note, i ordered a nameless axleback muffler delete (3.5" staggered double wall) on saturday night and i cannot wait to get it on the car. Only downfall is i have to wait until Christmas to get it! |

Been debating painting my tail lights for quite some time now, and I finally decided to do it. I couldn't be more happy with the results. It was a really easy process and I would personally recommend this method over overlays. Just because there is less chance of error and you don`t need any special skills to do it.
For the paint I used red vht niteshades and rustoleum clear coat. ![]() Here are the lights out of the car ready for painting. (excuse the poor quality on some of them as I took them with a camcorder and I left the fish-eye on in some of them) ![]() All coats of vht done and clear coated. ![]() And here`s a few of them in the car. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think I might have done like 7 coats of the niteshades and I did 5 coats of clear. I did so many coats of niteshades because i did them really thin as i wasn`t familiar with the paint and didn`t want runs). I waited roughly 15 between each coat and let it dry for about an hour and half then started clear coating, with about 10 minutes between coats. I let the lights sit for the night and most of the next day before i put them back in the car. |

How are you liking the TP stage 1 with the intake? I'm thinking about doing both of those pretty soon. Did you use an AP or tactrix to install?

@ dcorn - I love it! soo much more fun than stock, and I noticed a good difference in throttle response. It pulls a lot harder and is a lot smoother than the stock tune as well. I don't know the exact gains of the intake as I installed them both the same time, but it does sound cool!
I only really got the intake because I got a good deal from my brother. And I used the tactrix cable to flash.@_brian_ - I know! I cannot wait to get it on the car. |

Just a little update, I have had all the parts for the bulletproof mod for the stock intercooler for a couple months now and just haven't had/made time to put it on there. I'm really going to try and get it on there this week/ weekend. Check back for pictures when it's installed!

I'm a fan of the 3M vinyls, that's what I used for the turn signals on my sedan. I've seen some sloppy jobs with the night shade, it looks a lot better than most.

the job itself looks great, just could be smoothed and glossed and would look a lot deeper and glass like. did you watersand at all?

Yeaa i agree i should have used a better clear coat, but i thought the stuff i used would be good at the time. As for the vinyl overlays, id rather stay away from them. I know i wouldn't be able to install them because i don't have the patience and i would just get frustrated. I found painting them to be very easy.
And i did try wet sanding with 2000 grit (soapy water) one of the pieces on the hatch followed by some turtle wax polishing compound and it made it look a bit hazy so i didn`t do the rest of them. Is there something i did wrong |

wet sand them and hit it with some rubbing compound followed by some wax. that haziness means you wet sanded them enough and needs to be refinished. the compound should bring back the depth and color and the wax will really make em shine

Ohhh i dint't wax them afterward. just used the rubbing compound. So is the wax just normal wax you use on the car? or is it a special type?
