Not being mean. But... It isn't for some one to tackle unless you have access to the proper tools and a bit of knowledge. A spring that is compressed in the strut housing can injure or kill if it releases without the proper tools. If you have any doubt about your abilities and if you don't have the proper tools I would suggest taking it to a mechanic. You can also get a Haynes manual that will take you through it step by step.

It's pretty self explanatory. You remove the whole strut assembly from the car. You then remove the spring and replace the shock absorber. You want to replace struts/shocks in pairs. If one side is bad the other wont be far behind. You will also have even control from side to side. I would bet that if you do a search on this site or even an internet search you will find a step by step procedure.

Why didn't you ask how to take the back seat out instead of asking how to replace a strut?

You have to remove the bottom cushion of the rear seat first. It's two bolts down in the footwell area.
Then, you'll see three bolts at the bottom of the seatback left, right and center. take those out. lift straight up on the seatback to remove it from the clips at the top. voila, you can see the tops of the struts. |
