I towed a 1900 pound trailer from Atlanta to Los Angeles with no issues. just keep it below 70 mph and you will be fine.

will look interesting, but will work. for liability your trailer would need trailer brakes. Our manual says once you are over 1000lbs they are needed. I have done about 1800lbs on my 4x8 utility with no brakes. (2006 wrx) barely felt it on the throttle, you knew it was there on the brakes, but never made me nervous or concerned. (reached highway speeds)

...i would try to find an aluminum trailer. I picked one up for hauling my sand toys around and it is great.
Another thing to note is drag coefiecent....just bc a trailer loaded weighs X amount and it's under X amount of towing capacity just remeber air has density and while driving the drag increases the wieght or the item(s) being towed...quick reply but it's true. |

Anyone think that this is feasible. I have a lot stiffer spring rates so i feel as if it would be able to handle the weight easily.

Obviously this hitch would be on the STI though.

not a chance. those are designed for class 4 hitches which have around an 800-1200 pound tongue weight limit...our cars have a 200 pound limit. |

What are our options for a rear cargo carrier? With 200 lb tongue weight it would have to be aluminum at 40 ish pounds and i doubt id have anything more than 100 back there so under 150.
This curt one weighs under 30 lbs: http://www.amazon.com/Curt-18100-Aluminum-Carrier-Folding/dp/B004QEKG8C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355950592&sr=8-1&keywords=aluminum+cargo+carrier Any recommendations? |

200 tongue weight is for a trailer. Simple physics, the longer the lever the greater the force. 200lbs of trailer tongue weight is MUCH less than 200lbs on one of those baskets. Even 100lbs on one of those baskets will exceed the equivalent force of 200lbs of trailer tongue weight.

its been a while since ive had a physics class, so lets say you have a 30lb carrier, how much could you load and be safe?

200lbs rating is 6" from the edge of the hitch.
Simple math/physics says if 6" = 200lbs, then 12" = 100lbs 24" = 50lbs |

you know ive been searching all these other forums with people talking about carriers and class 1 hitches and no one has brought this up. not even this "expert review":
http://www.etrailer.com/question-43251.html i wonder how many people have messed up their cars because of the lack of info. |

Any help
Hey so i have an 02 wrx and im looking to get a hitch but i kniw there arent any 2" cuz the car isnt supposed to tow that much to need a 2", but could i put a hitch on and make an adapter to have a 2" hitch end. Im in school for welding so i could manage that but i would be putting a motorcycle carrier on it and my motocross bike. Would that that be considered weight on the tongue since its all being held up. I think the carrier weighs around 65lbs and my bike 225lbs. Would that be too much weight? I could of course just get a small trailer for it but i dont really want to deal with it if i dont have too.
P.S please excuse my spelling im on my ipad and sometimes i make mistakes. Thank Last edited by mattcrum1223; 01-02-2013 at 09:20 PM. |

I towed bikes behind my subarus on a folding 4'x8' harbor freight trailer. I'd much rather have had a bike specific trailer, but the flat deck came in handy for all sorts of fun I probably already posted in this thread years ago. The trailer folds and stands in my garage so that I can still get two cars in there too.

I can also use the winch in the receiver on the back of my truck. It's pretty handy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1nvBz-NC0c Here's some video of the buggy since I show it off a bit in the video. I built it in 10 months in my garage. It's my current toy and a great welding project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zngpuPspS8Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms3fE1ywu8g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgHQ-F7eBPE |

Whats the word on hauling a 5x8 enclosed trailer behind a 2002 wrx? I have searched and couldn't find any info. Will the wind resistance be too much for a little car? I was thinking about picking up a v-nose type to haul my motorcycle and random other crap a couple thousand miles.
Thanks, Charlie |

2013 STi towbar
Has anyone with a 2008-2013 STi hatch or 2011-2013 WRX hatch installed a towbar WITH an aftermarket exhaust? I'm considering the Invidia Q300 and the curt hitch but am not sure if they are compatible with one another.
