I installed the turbo with catless FP, apexi noir exhaust, turbo inlet (put that on that on the must buy list or I can guarantee you'll have a boost leak), sti tmic and splitter, walbro pump and an AEM short ram intake and grimmspeed EBCS. At the time with these parts the car was pro tuned at no limit motor sports by Clark Turner and Dave Brown and the car made 290whp/350wtq on a Dyno dynamics Dyno.

Depending how you drive the car will determine how long the 5 speed will last. I wanted more power so I did 1000cc IDs, 38mm gate and up pipe, ETS TMIC, TGV deletes and a Perrin 3" exhaust and my car is making 360/411 on E85. I drove it around for a few thousand miles and then the clutch started to slip so I put a brand new 07 STI transmission in it...be prepared to spend a few thousand to do the swap...I would say if you don't launch it and Smash the gears that you will be ok with the 5 speed...all depends on the driver.

That's good to know. Ya that's not too bad id like atleast 280-310whp. Ya I rarely launch when I do I slip the clutch only thing I'm worried about is 3rd gear pulls. That's some good.numbers one of these days id like to have 400whp and a sti drive train.

This a good deal? Should make as much power as any vf turbo just not sure how quick it spools or falls off. What does the welded shut waste gate do?

Force you to spend quite a bit more money on an external waste gate setup.

Slightly larger, similar spool. Overall slightly fatter power band than the VF43. Great turbo, IMO. It doesn't say if it has a 7cm or 8cm turbine housing, which will change its spool characteristics and peak torque.

Have you put a cold air on it or injectors yet? You'll have to tune it when you do anything, that's probably an easy 20-30 reliable hp.

I talked to 3 tuners and 1 said I needed injectors and the other 2 said I am fine with the stockers. I myself felt that I should be fine with the stockers and the vf39 is a stock turbo; I have all the bolts on you can think of. Also, upgrade your fuel pump which is cheap and should help in IDC.

How would a fuel pump help with IDC's...could help your fuel pump duty cycle...

TD06 turbo is a good match for our 2.5L engines. a good intercooler, ebcs, headers/uppipe and a tune. it should turn out well. keep in mind about cooling because bigger turbo creates more heat. so wrap everything if you can. stock fuel system/air intake is fine. before your tune make sure your maintenance is in good standing.

So what turbo are you going with? And you decided to stay with stock injectors?

Upgrading the fuel pump will help when you get tuned. Your tranny will be fine if you drive and shift smooth.

Even with the stock turbo? Should hold up to a 16g?

Thinking vf39 or 43 but people say I won't be happy with the gains so now I'm contemplating getting a 16g.

16g would be nice if had for a good price but unsure which one to look for

I was happy with my vf39 for a couple of years as a daily driver. I am now looking for a vf48 or hta-71 or 68 for more power now.
