quick question on what I should go with. I am stuck between the two federal tires the ss595 245/40-17 and the 595 rs-r 235/40/17 I am fixing to go on a 5k mile road trip to the tail of the dragon couple places in new york and colorado. I am thinking I will enjoy the rs-r tires better, just wish they had a 245 size and don't want to wear them out on the long trip. I can get the ss595's in the size I want and they will last longer, just don't know if they will have the performance I want. I wish they had the evos in the size I need but they don't. So tire gurus what would you do? They are going on a 8.5" rim
Thanks, Charlie |

The only complaint I have about the SS595's is that they are LOUD! |

Thinking about getting federal ss595's 225/40/18 or 215/40/18 tire for my 18x8.75 xxr rims. Want a little stretch as well, is 215/40 to much?

Hi all,
after reading through the thread, I didn't find the answer to the question I had and figured I'd post. Car: 2006 WRX STI Suspension: Stock on RCE Blacks with -1.5 Deg (all the way around) Wheels: Stock STI wheels of the era I see that everyone says that these Federal SS595's fit much wider than normal. Do you experts think a 245/40/17 would fit on my ride? If not, I'll go with a 235/40/17. Thanks! |

These things are tough, and wear like iron.

Is that good or bad? I only want them for a couple of months before winter hits here in Canada (mid-November). I don't expect to use them next summer, as I'm putting 18" wheels on my car. Thus the reason I was looking for cheap summer tires. |

From what you have said, I think they will suit your needs just fine.

Its good if you're poor, bad if you aren't, lol. They're very very good for the price, I mean I paid $54 per for 17's, same price as some ****ty cheap all seasons, and they are quite good. However, they are nothing like a $150 max performance tire, in performance (inferior) or wear (far superior).
I paid just over $200 and I'm not pissed off by them, nuff said. |

OK, now I'm annoyed. Wet pavement = no bueno. They slide super easy. I was drifting canyon corners at 30mph this morning, and peeling out at every light. They don't hydroplane, due to the honking grooves, but they just don't hook up on moist roads.
Meh, still a good deal for the money. I do miss 451's though, you could drive nearly without any regard to any weather conditions over 45 degrees. |

So i hit a huge pothole and flatted one tire. They don't make the wonky size I have in the ss595 anymore, so I'm getting two 595 evos. Can't make the rsrs happen.
